MoT (LoT spells)
Preservation? (I think I put this on her since I couldn't take Armor of Destiny to keep it to 1 magic armour item)
Sorcerer on the front line here
Used this list against an Orc/Goblin army. The point are within 20 of 1k I believe (don't have book on me to put up actual points). Warriors killed a unit of 10 Wolf Rider, Hounds drew out the fanatics and killed 1 spear chukka, Marauders killed horde of spearmen, horde of night goblins, warboss on boar, doom diver, spear chukka, another unit of 10 wolf riders....Needless to say...Marauders won it for me. The Chariot didn't even get the chance to charge anything. Marauders were set up 10x3 with 5 hangin in the back.
couple problems. first being that your over your magic items allotment on your sorcerer by 15 points(the spell familiar). i can tell you for sure, that at 1k, with mot a ToPres and a charmed shield that he is NOT going to die easily. the Topres might be overkill... id take a collar of khorne for 20 points less and then youll still have your points for the familiar. that way hell have a 5+vs all and a 3+vs magic, and his unit will also have that magic resist 2.
alot of people will tell you to try to fit an infernal puppet on your sorc. i wont argue that the puppet is awesome, but i think the cheap spell familiar with alittle protection at this cost, with him being your general and all, is a better choice.
marauders are great
warriors are great
dogs are great
the chariot is an odd choice at this point cost. if it works, cool, keep it, but at 140 points i dont think a single chariot is going to do as much as say... a warshrine. you could even fit a unit of flail marauder horsemen that would do pretty much the same job, with alittle more utility.
Ur right about sorc. I double checked my list, it was Endurance I tossed him with MoT, spell familiar, charmed shield. The chariot was to play around with since I've never used one before. I tried the same list with a warshrine instead the next match. That thing is a mobile tank! I still have a huge problem facing barded heavy knights (1+ arm save). A unit of 5 killed everything because they had a D3 added to their combat resolution..so if I didn't charge I lost almost every time.
best way i can think of to deal with their knights...
1. Hellcannon. pretty easy way to get a high strength hit
2. force panic tests. the hellcannon does this particularly well, but there are other ways. anything that causes terror is a good source. theres also spells that force this.
3. the best way is to deny armour saves. there are plenty of spells in all of the lores available to WoC that deny armour saves. lore of death is a great one for this. lore of nurgle also does a fantastic job, and may i say, festus is a fantastic addition to any army for this purpose. lore of tzeentch gets a few armor save denials as well. if you dont fancy using magic to kill them, use trolls. vomit denies armour saves and will tear knights(or anything else) apart.
at this point cost, a tzeentch sorc should do alright, but a death lore would probably do better. a small unit of trolls is viable at 1k, but i think it leaves you with a pretty small force at that point, and its not hard for fast movers to avoid them if they really want to.
something i forgot to mention from your first post. armour of destiny is usually used for a second character if youve already used the talisman of preservation. for other armies its fantastic just for the fact that its heavy armour. since we always have chaos armour anyway the talisman of preservation trumps it every time. and a charmed shield is a great buff for a sorcerer... saved my butt plenty of times.
Hah yeah. No hellcannon or troll yet but they are next on my "to get" list. My sorc only got to cast 1 spell cuz I was fighting dark elves and the sorc had the tome (all doubles are miscasts when used on any unit within 12" of him). I rolled for gateway but missed, rolled a 10, and became a level 0 sorc. So useless sorc. On a good note my warshrine went 5 rounds of close combat before getting overrun after a flee (his knight had the banner that added d3 to his combat resolution).
