Ok, I think of my self as an ambitious player who really wants to beat the living $%!* out of my brother's Skaven. In your opinions, who is the best patron to use against Skaven and what units/characters would kick Skaven cans? Currently, my "army" consists of a Chaos Lord of Nurgle and a kit of Warriors that I'm waiting to hear word on (I ordered 'em on Saturday and the store hasn't given me a call about it)
MoN/Banner of Rage warriors with halberds do very well against Skaven because they have so many WS3 troops.
Knights hurt them a lot, as do DrOgres.
Lore of Death is very nice as a magic counter.
Exalteds are usually more than enough to kill individual characters.
This thread shouldn't be under Army Lists really.

Sorry 'bout puttin' this under "Army Lists". I probably should've mentioned he's got the Skaven from the Island of Blood (Warlord, 40 Clanrats, 2 Rat Ogres, Master Moulder, Warplock Engineer, Warpfire Thrower, and Posioned Wind Mortar.) kit along with, so far as I know, Ikit Claw, a Doom-Flayer, 20-some odd Plague Monks, 2 more Rat Ogres, and Deathmaster Snikch. I was thinking have either a Nurgle Sorcerer or Festus and use Curse of the Leper to wipe out squads of Clanrats, Plague Monks, or Rat Ogres and focus the Warriors and Lord/Exalted Hero against whatever big stuff he may throw. Does the Warriors kit come with halberds or do I have to buy it as a "bitz" sprue?
The newest models do not. They only come with various 1h weapons (Swords, Axes, Hammers) and shields with ample weapons to make the whole box carry two hand weapons. You could always do what I do (if you have the models). Since there is no "what you see is what you get" in warhammer, I use my unit of Chosen to represent halberd wielding warriors (as long as they aren't actually being used in the game). I just toss them in the front line and let the hw/shield guys fall in behind and say they are a halberd unit with no shields.

Life - TBA
Another solution would be to convert your warriors to use the lances you get from chaos knights if you got any of those, pretty sure you can find loads of guides on how to do that
And tell your bro to check out the Skaven forums, they aren't as lively as WoC but the Isle of Blood is a pretty terrible list.
