Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have been away for a long time but now that school is over for good I can focus on the important things like my WoC (and family of course). To get back into the swing of things I have signed on for a small progressive campaign and a 2,000pt league (will post that list under another thread).
So here is what I have come up with so far.
Sorcerer (Charmed Shield, Spell Familiar)
11 Warriors (Halberds, Full Command)
20 Marauders (GW, Standard, Musician)
5 Horsemen (Spears, Shields, Standard)
I realize that there are no marks in the list as of yet but I feel having a fun list to play with is sometimes better than a competitive one (although winning one battle every now and then feels allright too)
Thanks for taking a look and by all means leave a comment if you wish, some good opinions can never hurt.
I like it. My own 2k list has one marked character and one marked unit. The idea that you need a good reason not to mark a unit is...well, backward.
I trust you'll add a BSB at 1000 points?
IG since 1999 __ DA since 2002 __ Tau since 2005 __ SoB since 2007
Brets 1997-1999 __ TK since 2009 __ Empire since 2010
Thanks for the response Marnepup, to answer the question yes I will add a BSB at 1000 points and then when I break into 2k I will swap out the Sorcerer for a Sorcerer Lord. Although I sometimes like to see if at 2k you can cause a lot of havoc without magic... who knows.
Hey dude, not sure if you still need replies this late in the day but you're going to get my thoughts anyway
Grab this guy a cheap magic weapon. There's a few new ethereal beasties out there that can make or break you at 500pts. The biting blade is handy even if here aren't any.
Ditch the Champ. At 500pts your sorcerer probably wont face anything that can scare him in Combat. This will give you enough points spare for that magic weapon and maybe a cheap magic Standard from the BRB. The Gleaming Pennant is ideal.
At this level I'd probably grab flails. you don't have the numbers to take the casualties before you strike so get your str5 blows in there first. Swapping the unit to 6x3 formation will give you a few extra attacks and save you some much needed points to boot.
Ditch the Std. They don't need the +1 combat res for the job they need to do but do buy them a Musician as they'll need to rally if they ever flee from a charge they can't handle. Give them flails over spears and don't worry about shields or armour either as they'll die to any sort of real effort from the enemy..
Your suggestions were appreciated. I made the changes you suggested and with some extra points grabbed the Luckstone on the Sorcerer. Yesterday I gave the list a go and found that with both the Charmed shield and the Luckstone my sorcerer held on long enough for the dice to save him against a lizardman veteran. The match goes down as my first victory .... unfortunately the campaign starts this Saturday so it does not count.
Thanks again for the suggestions and critiques. I have been modelling for nearly 15 years but only got into the game play over the past year so it is greatly appreciated. I will be posting my 2k league list shortly I just have a few things to decide on so any advice there would also be helpfull.
Congrats on the win mate. You should show off some your painted stuff in our, aptly named, painted model thread It's always nice to see other peoples stuff! (and steal their ideas)
