Not sure if it is practical or not, but what do people think of a pure calvary list? like core are just marauder horsemen and special are chaos knights. of course fast moving units like trolls, charriots and dragon ogres are also past of the 'pure calv' idea to me. so what do you guys think? and would they be good in smaller or bigger games?
I have tried this type of list in the past, in fact I have it posted on LO somewhere in the army list section...I just can't seem to find it.
The only difference being, my list didn't include trolls or dragon ogres in it. I did run a huge unit of M. Horsemen with flails and MoK as well as 4 chariots and a large group of knights.
It wouldn't exactly be a spectacular choice in a tournament, but it's extremely fun to play and really does confuse the crap out of your opponent haha.
thats true! i thought it would be kinda cool to have a pure horsemen list just to confuse your opponent. obviously it would not be tournament material, but friendly wise, is it survivable or would it just fail?
It heavily relies on speed and you use that to your advantage by getting your units into good positions to flank... it doesn't work like your typical WoC army list because it simply doesn't have tough units(aside from chaos knights).
What I struggled with mostly when I used the list were large hordes, you can't reliably charge into a horde and expect to go toe to toe for extended combat. This is why I brought a long some chariots, they worked great in pairs and the impact hits really help out a lot. Of course trolls, and dragon ogres can probably accomplish the same thing.
EDIT* Found the list on here http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...army-list.html (Cavalry based army list)
You can use this as an example if you want, basically my insight into this type of army, hope it helps!
Ok I will look into that! Thanks for the info, I may even do it, Hahas! Was just interested as to what people thought about a pure Calvary list. Thanks again!
and also i like the idea odf 4 chariots! actually for MoK on them, they hit with 10 attacks altogether! that kinda hurts...
If I was running this list I would have a few small units (5 models) of Maruader Horsemen with Javelins to run around throwing javelins then running off when they get charged and repeat, this would allow you to move their units around so the rest of your army can charge flanks easier
I've done it and like it a lot. Except half my core was a +1 movement warrior unit.
