in my last few posts i was focusing on pure foot armies and pure calv armies, then it hit me that maybe i should mix them up. i was thinking of making a 1500pt list with a main block of warriors and surrounded with M horsemen, knights and charriots. hq would most prob be a sorc and a BSB. Any thoughts?
Nowt wrong with that. It's called 'balanced'. My 3k Marauder list has 1 block of Chosen+Shrine and 2 blocks of Marauders for the 'fighty core' and then for support I have 30 Hounds, 20 Horsemen, 2 Chariots and a Giant. Oh and Scylla.
hmmm, how does mine sound? like the 1 block of warriors with M.horsemen and knights with chariots
another thing i wanna ask is this, i've seen many ppl play M horsemen on groups of 5, why only 5? sorry if this is a noob question. also what are good ways to kit M horsemen?
I'll say flails with MoK for hitting potential, Borak will say flails with MoS for the ITP and better control. If I run M.Horsemen at all I run them in units of 5 because for what I use them for I don't need any more (ie warmachine hunting, supporting flank charges). That's not to say that you can't run them in larger blocks. I've tried it a few times with moderate success
hmmm...iseeisee, is it worth while to give them javelins or throwing axes?
I've used both before and am not a huge fan personally, but that could just be me. I see them as points better spent elsewhere. I'd ask others though because I barely run M.Horsemen anymore so my opinion could be against the norm.
true, but everyone has their own way of thinking on their kitting. true, see if anyone else can tell me the way they use their M.horsemen. and would playing them in groups of more then 5 worth it?
Well what are you using them for? If it's war machine hunting then I'd say you don't need them in units any bigger than 5. Start off with flails and MoS and play a few games with them. If you find that by the time they make it to the war machines they aren't hitting hard enough then swap MoS for MoK and try again (remember that horses don't get an extra attack from MoK though, I made that mistake for a while). If they still aren't doing it for you then you have the options of 1) adding more to the unit or 2) using something other than M. Horsemen. Ultimately what will end up being best for you is both a mix of what the rest of your army consits of and what your personal preference is.
I've run a unit of 15 slaanesh marauders, full command with LA and Flails for at least 30 games of 8th edition. Armies just don't know how to counter them. Only army I have problems with is chariot heavy beasts, because they can keep 1 chariot back to protect themselves and horsemen don't like chariots charging them.
However, this unit is so versatile, it can clean up war machines, charge flanks, and be such a pain in the butt while being so fast, that they alone can dictate the pace of the game. And they cost, what 250? I've taken an organ gun and a grudge thrower to the face and still had enough left to take out both machines. I like them so much I'm thinking of filling my core with 2 big units. You'd own both flanks in most games and our specials should hold any middle ground.
