I have just played my two first games against Ogre and Orcs and I won thx to you guys on this forum . Now I have to win against High Elves and Bretonnia. The mission is simple this time, kill everything! The mission will be played on a smaller table 40*40. How should my list be? I have to use a Exalted Hero with Nurgle in the list.
I have started on a list but don't know about the rest or if it is a good start?
MoN, Halberd, Armour of morrslie
18 Warriors, MoN, Halberds, Std, Musician, Banner of Rage
50 Marauders, MoK, GW, Std, Musician
Looks decent, Id consider dropping the marauder unit down abit, not sure you will find many hordes at this point level
Then with the saved points Id get some knights and hounds
Id try to get magic in there but with you wanting a hero not sure how you would get him in
I was afraid that smaller units of marauders will never survive a lot of HE archers? But I don't know. Should I have two units with 30 marauders instead. I have never used a warshrine before, is it something that could help me against HE? If I go with magic what should I bring, I have no clue???
Ive never used a War Shrine so dont know how useful they are, but normally you use chaos hounds as cheap bow fodder, I would try something like knights (chaos or marauder) to hunt out any war machines and get round the back of the enemy
Not sure about the Marauders but 2 units of 20-25 should give you solid support units for the Warriors
and magic normally a sorcerer but you wouldnt fit him and an exhalted in an army this size
Okay, thx. The knights I never used either. How should I equip them?
Chaos knights come as standard, no need to change
Marauders ones most people like flails
Festus. nuf said.
Being forced to take an Exalted Hero at this level hurts big time. At around 1000 point games heroes are usually level 2 casters. Because you have to take an Exalted Hero you're sacrificing magic defense (in the form of +2 to dispel).
Warshrines are by no means bad, but at this point level aren't really necessary.
Festus can't be taken at this level with an Exalted Hero because then you'd be over your 260 point limit on heroes.
Knights are taken with enscrolled weapons over lances because it's generally accepted that a consistent +1 strength from the weapons is better than +2 strength on the charge.
I'd say try this out and tweak it as you see necessary.
Exalted Hero (179)
-Armor of Morrslieb
3+/4++ in combat and hitting at S6. The S6 will only really be useful compared to his normal S5 if he's fighting T4 or higher, but I couldn't really see a point in taking a shield if he's already rocking the Dragonhelm.
An alternative to this model is if you didn't want to completely waste your power dice you could give him a book of secrets to toss a fireball per turn, but then the best you can do defensively is a 6+ ward.
50 Marauders (288 )
You want these in big numbers. They'll be wounding most elves on 2's and so you want as many of them to reach him as possible.
17 Warriors of Chaos (310 )
I know you had MoN on here before but trust me when I say that a 3+/6++ (or 5++ in combat because of a modified parry save) will be more beneficial
5 Knights (xxx)
If he brings bolt throwers send these guys after them while utilizing as much cover as possible (probably up the flank), or keep them back to help out with a flank charge where you need it.
5 Hounds (xxx)
5 Hounds (xxx)
Puppies will die, don't doubt that, but that is what they're there for. You deploy them first and second and you get the opportunity to see where he'll be placing 2 of his units. Then use them as a screen for your main blocks of units (I'd say in front of the knights and warriors as they're your most valuable units points-per-model wise, but that's your call). If he tries to shoot past them at the stuff behind them he gets a minus to hit. If he shoots them instead of your main units, that's a turn or 2 wasted shooting them instead of your good stuff. If he ignores them altogether then hey, lookie there, you have 2 more units to help flank charge (never charge something head on with these unless it's a warmachine). Any way you slice it these guys are helping you out for super cheap
Hope this all helped and good luck with your game

As others have already pointed out, not having a caster at this level will hurt you, and since our armies are very powerful in hand-to-hand, I would strongly suggest a Sorcerer instead of an Exalted Hero.
Both Nurgle & Tzeentch make for very effective mages, because both offer some protection. Although, Tzeentch is the go-to Lore, with this list I'd recommend Nurgle, regenerate, curse, buboes, and rot are all great against High Elves.
With that in mind, this is the hero I would use:
Chaos Sorcerer level II
- Spell Familiar
- Charmed Shield
- Potion of Toughness
Note: There is no ward save, because regenerate is highly likely as he will want to stop buboes, curse, or rot first.
The nice thing about this build is:
I've used this one against Empire and it worked very nicely, against Elves it should do pretty well too.
- It will give you plenty of spell options [3 is a nice average]
- Your hero will definitely survive the first round of combat with the potion
- Your hero will survive a miscast with the shield
- Anything with WS6 or lower will need 4's to hit you [same as an exalted almost], and you have a nice armor save.

Thx for the help Immortal Scrub and Antithesis! I am not really forced to take the exalted Hero but but every time I use him in a game he will get a bonus in our campaign. I already got him +1 in WS. But should I skip him this match against HE and lose the bonus? I was stupid in the beginning to choose to have a Exalted Hero as an general in this campaign. I understand now that I should have take an Wizard instead... On which point level is it good to choose a Exalted Hero?
I will go for your list Immortal Scrub, I like the knights idea. Should I just go crazy and run the knights as quick as possible over to the enemy side or should I play them more safe?
