    2000 Khorne v2

    This army did brilliantly against a PK-heavy Bret army yesterday. So I thought I'd post it and see what people thought of it.

    Lord O'Khorne: Slaughterer's Blade, Armour of Damnation, Gaze of the Gods, shield
    19*Chaos Warriors: Shields, S/M/C, MoK, Banner of Rage

    5*Marauder Horsemen: Throwing Axes, spears, shields, M
    5*hounds
    5*hounds
    5*Knights of Chaos: M

    Bray Shaman:Braystaff, lvl1, 2*Dispel Scroll
    23*Beast Herd: 12 gor, 11 ungor, S/M/C
    10*Centigor: light armor,spear, shields, S/M/C
    6*Furies

    Cannon
    4*ironguts:M

    S/M/C = Standard/Musician/Champion. yes I know I can't use the Lord's shield in CC. I wanted to fill the last 3 points with something.

    Please note that I play my Chaos for effectiveness, and other armies (DE, Dwarves, HE) for fluff. So please let me know what you would change to make the army more effective, rather than more fluffy.

    your army loks pretty good.

    remember, the beast herd needs to have 25 percent of its models in charge ranged to be able to charge. for this reason i usually limit my herds to either 16 or 20 (including characters too) or this really fast unit may get charged, and with lttile or no armour, thats not good.

    i dont mind that scroll caddy (i mean, undivided characters kinda server khorne as well right?) but a wargor would still get the dispel dice, and make the beast unit so much better. plus, if he had a great weapon or that blade that negates armour, then this unit could take on cavalry units (usually they bounce coz they cant penetrate armour).

    also, id get the warbanner instead of the banner of rage. its cheaper, and i think its a more positive banner to take to win combats. khorne warriors should crush their enemies mercilessly, not be on the back foot just incase they lose combat. all or nothing really suits khorne

    other than that, i love all the potentional combos this army has. lead belchers on the flank are gonna scare the crap out of everybody, and once they soften up the enemy, centigors can clean up. good screens, machine hunters, i like the mix

    if you could save points in places (like the beast herd, dispel scrolls etc) and get those knights chosen, they unually charge straight up the battle field and kill everything in their way.

    First, thanks for the comments!

    I like the idea of the wargor, I'm gonna mess around with the points and see if I can't find a way to add him. Adding the axe of khorne or the tooth-thingy would up the combat potential a bunch. And the bray-shaman had to duck outta the unit to avoid CC last time, cause the unit was charged by Brets...

    I think I'm gonna stick with my banner of rage, for the following reason: The unit is designed to stand alone in combat, and this means I'll occasionally be deploying it such that it gets mutiply flanked by decent CC units. I want it to grind them to pulp, letting the rest of my army operate independantly if necessary. The unit is just too expensive to have them losing combat and fleeing, ever. So I'm doing everything I can to prevent that, and I think the reroll is more likely to save my bacon if it becomes necessary. Course, I smashed Brets the other day without using it, so maybe it is totally unnecessary...

    Did you mean ironguts on the flank, or did you mean that I should get a unit of leadbelchers to replace them or something else? I often include leadbelchers, but since I realized that they have to roll to hit, I've been less enthused about them. Think I should re-include them?

    The knights aren't chosen cause I used to play a lot of gunlines, and they are usually a priority target. Right now, they are fielded as an expensive distraction more than anything. Course, now I don't play many gunlines, so 'chosening' them is probably a good idea also.

    My only advice here is that your lord would probably be better off as 2 seperate exalted champions. Khorne has the only killing-blow item for chaos, and it's a must have. Two champs in the front of your unit will make even more of an impression than a lord will.

    That would add to the killing power and dispel dice, but take away some leadership and survivability (existing lord is extremely resiliant). To be considered. If I am going to add a wargor, that would be an excellent way to do it, and get 6 DD then. And then I'd get to paint up a new chaos critter, which is always fun.

    I like LD 9 for the rest of the army though...
