Welcome to Librarium Online!
I am making a 2000pt army for competitive play with my friends. I have based it around Tzeentch, and I think its a fairly solid lineup. However I have only played 2 games before (ever) so obviously I have a lot to learn. Please give me some pointers, on setup, deployment and/or strategy, because I don't really know the most effective way to use this!
To view my army in detail please press here
1x Lord of Tzeentch 499pts
Halberd; Shield; Golden Eye of Tzeentch; Staff of Change;
1x Exalted Champion of Chaos 130pts
Armour of Damnation;
1x Sorcerer of Chaos 120pts
Level 2 Wizard (Lore of Shadow)
25x Marauders of Chaos 169pts
Great Weapon; Light Armour; Shield;
20x Warriors of Chaos 254pts
5x Knights of Tzeentch 285pts
Shield; Blasted Standard
1x Chariots of Tzeentch 140pts
4x Screamers of Tzeentch 132pts
5x Warhounds of Chaos 30pts
5x Warhounds of Chaos 30pts
1x Spawn of Chaos 60pts
Thanks in advance.

uhh, don't list the points and ESPECIALLY not the stats. Big no no.
This army needs bulking out for it to be effective as it seems a little character heavy.
-Drop one of the marauder units and increase the size of the other unit to at least 25+ led by the exalted champion and increase the warrior unit to about 20.
-The knights are a waste of points to be honest unless you are using them as a flanking force but I think they will get destroyed early on at a competative level.
-You will get more out of the hounds if you buy another two hounds you can split the unit into 2 units of five making them more effective at screening the rest of your army.
Firstly, drop the Great Weapon on your Lord. if you want extra strength, go for a Halberd. Why? because you're mounted. a Great Weapon will give you only +1 strength. Except with a great weapon you strike last.
Secondly, there doesn't seem to be enough hard stuff. Knights are great, but so few will almost always get beaten on Combat Resolution.
Thanks for the suggestions so far guys.
I modified my army and it now reads like this:
Dropped the Great Weapon for a Halberd on my Lord
Removed a unit of Marauders and upped the other one to 25
Increased the number of warriors to 20
Replaced my 8 Hounds with two units of 5 Hounds
As for the Knights, I'm afraid there isn't much I can do. I really need to use them because I physically dont have that many units.
So I agree, this is looking better.
But do you guys (Jared/Robizzle) have any suggestions for how I should go about using them on the field (especially against a Dark Elf army).
One last question - with the dogs, how should I screen effectively? I tried this tactic once before I they panicked and ran back into all my units and I got massacred..
general. If you put your general with the knights, he can provide leadership 9 or 8.
Destroy his bolt throwers and crossbowmen as soon as you feasibly can. Send your screamers and knights along a flank knights screaned by the screamers.
As long as you keep the general in range of the hounds at the begining of the game there should not be a problem with panic as they can still use his Ld9 for those tests.
Do not worry so much about your infantry but I would drop the great weapons on the marauders and just go with the shields.
Hope this helps. JvK
