I think Archaon's Horde became unofficial a little while ago, but my friends have no problem with it and still think the trade off of flexibility for power is fair. Before anyone asks me to take the MoK off of the Chariot, I'll say now that I don't play with much terrain and my friends aren't clever enough to use what they get.
They are still official, 2007 Grand Tournaments still allow them, just the Storm of Chaos campaign is no longer going on, thats all.
Add a Hellcannon, and maybe make the unit of knights chosen, maybe take out one of the warrior units to fund it.
Hellcannon comes in at 2250 :shifty:
I like chosen, but I'm going for size in this force (note US 115). Chosen Knights are just begging for cannon fire, and there's nothing the warhound screen can do about that except adding 6 points to the casualty list.
Thanks a heap for that info about the list though, guess I shouldn't listen to every rumour that comes my way.
I still think you should find a way to add the cannon in. D6 str. 10 hits would really come in handy if you needed to remove some enemy models, such as cannons that were targeting your prized chosen warriors that couldn't be screened by chaos knights, lol.
Oh, yeah, one more thing. You may just want to bring your warrior regiments either up 4 models or down one (then you can just buy the standard bearer and musician because champion isn't worth it) so you can get the rank bonus for having 5 guys in a row, which may help with CR (unless of course you plan to have an 8 by 2 arrangement, lol ).
If I dropped size down one it would increase the point cost, since units of at least 16 get a fre command in Archaon's Horde. And I use a 5*3 formation with an extra guy hanging aroudn the back, because square formations are for other people.
Oh okay, I thought you were doing a 4x4, okay, that makes sense now.
I do the same thing, whenever I hear a unit size I start factoring it into dimensions without even realizing it
Lol, I get thrown off though when I see someone has like an 11 unit size
I have been playing the hoard for a while and have not seen anyone field the dragon for the lord.
Dragon, lord with rune sword and armour of damnation is un stopable. it is the reason yuo need 2000 points to field him.
next point is horses you need them
2 units of knights one chosen at 16
2 units of Marauder at 20 5 x 4
4 Warhounds at 6 to go with the knights to flank
then drop out the Flayerkin and Chariot of Khorne to make up point cost
with the dragon on the field flyinh you don't need to worry about cannon fire
You can actually still shoot a lord on a dragon, to devastating effect. There's nothing in the rules that says flyers can't be shot at. I don't really like the runesword, personal preference thing there.
And while khorne cavalry armies are effective, they aren't my style.
