Welcome to Librarium Online!
I know it's red!
It's red with different variants of black, silver and gold, but I just don't like reds (including scarlets, purples, pinks etc.)
I really like Khorne, I just don't want to paint so many figures in the color that I don't like.
Any ideas how to do it differently?
I was thinking about using blue but that would look like Slaanesh or Tzeentch (anyone has ever seen any cool Khorne army in blue?)
I guess I could use just black (+silver and gold), but that would look boring and I would still need a color for banners.
Brown is another option, but that would also be a bit boring (and technically brown is really a dark red)
I've just thought about some white/gray winter pattern, but I am not sure how to do it.
Any ideas, comments, suggestions?
Well, brass, black and red are technically the colours of Khorne. You could use black and brass as the main colours, and just use bits of red here and there on Chaos icons to break up the metal a bit (i.e. very small amounts).
Grey might be quite good for boots and gloves, just don't go for white. You don't want the enemy (or Khorne) thinking you're trying to surrender .

Is purple also too red for you? If you dont want anything at all red related, it leaves you with green based colours essentially, possibly a bit too nurgle.
Given that you probably dont want to look like you typically belong to other marks, i think white may be your best bet. With Gold armour/weapons etc.
Yes! The more I think about it, the more I like white -arctic scheme.
I have to work out, is it going to be better to put base white and use black/gray washes, or start from gray and drybrush to white?
Long time ago GW had a paint called elf gray, which was essentially very light gray. That would be a perfect start, but GW doesn't make it anymore. I might buy white paint and add some small amount of black to get it darker.
I could use some weathering effects to make armor look more interesting. Now I am getting excited!
It would be nice to have some fur cloaks, but I am not sure is there any set from GW that would have them in large numbers.
ALthough they are beasts, there is a thread of my recent Chaos wip... its slowly getting there.
Anyway, they are painted white, drybrushing working up from Codex Gray.
Not sure how much help it will be, but you never know.

Very nice! I really like that color scheme and I am going to paint my warriors similarly. I'll just avoid the blue, as I don't want them to look slaaneshi.
What did you use for bases, sand, no sand? Did you start from white with washes or gray with drybrushes?
How did you do the fur? Did you start from gray or white?
The bases are sand from GW, applied before spraying (white). Then drybrushed codex gray, fortress gray, white. Then finished with GW snow flock.
For the actual models i started from gray and drybrushed my way up.
You could try making them look like they were ashy, like a dark gray, maybe mottle it a bit, put on some gold trim. Without red is tough for Khorne, but maybe the burnt ashes of his enemies.
Bah to all of your red!!
My khorne are blue and proud of it!!
I use deep blue on the armour plating which lightens marginally towards the edges and i pick out the details with mithril silver and shining gold!!
I know, i know, tzeentch.....
Would it surprise you to hear that my tzeentch army is green?
