Warhounds, Furies, Marauder Cav, how good are they?
I am planing to buy 14 warhounds for my 1000pts Khorne army, to shield the advance of my Knights, Warriors & Chariots. They seem to be the best choice for the points they cost, but are they going to make any difference? They are easy to break and if so, they will create confusion and Chaos (!). I don't want to spend all that money for expensive models and find out that they are not good enough.
Is it better to keep them in one 14 model long unit, or split them in 2 units?
I am also planning to buy 5-6 furies, they should be great for flanking, but again, expensive models and easy pray for the opponent.
What do you think?
Warhounds and furies are your best bet, they are excellent choices.
Run furies in a unit of 6. They have been invaluable in so many circumstances for me, pretty tough through being toughness 4 and daemonic, great!!
Warhounds are best in units of 5-6. They act as more dispensable units of march blockers and screens. They are good simply because they are so cheap.
I would buy 15 instead and 6 furies. That should keep you going for most battles up to and including 2500 points.
Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares, your a mile away and you have his shoes!!
Chuck Norris invented water
Just a thought, unless you really love the models, instead of buying the more expensive Metal Chaod Hounds, use Goblin wolves (plastic) instead, they are a perfectly good replacement, and cheaper. Come in boxes of 10, just sell the Gobbo riders on or something
furies are only toughness 3, its their ward save that helps them out the most...
Id run the warhounds in 2 units of 6 to screen, and id also get furies.. they are invaluable. The fly move is what makes them so good, especially at hunting warmachines, they fly right past the enemy kill 1 or 2 war machine crews and then outnumbered by fear causing (only double 1's to stay) and they pretty much always run and are caught by the furies. Usually earning their points back after killing 2-3 war machine crews. Warhounds are ok... but against other hard hitting armys they are kinda pointless... but in a 1000 point game they kinda seem necessary because they are just so cheap.
Death draws near.
