I am working on my army and am wondering: Is it better to have one 10 man unit of horse with full command or two 5 man units? Get the rank bonus or seperate them and use at different areas? thanks
I shall call him Squishy, and he shall be mine, and he shall be my Squishy.
If you want ranks, go with Infantry. As a general rule for Cav, there is no point having the numbers for the extra ranks. Waste of points, as most are either so hard (Chaos Knights) that they dont need it, or they are Fast Cav.
As for Maru cav, best used in 5's with Flails and Music. Small, annoying, fast, can hit hard if you need them too.
Additionally, marauder horsemen won't get any rank bonus anyways (fast cavalry, rulebook p.70)
Apart from that, Phoenix has covered the issues.
Only against the new high elves and their speed of asuryan you're better off with throwing axes, but that's the only opponent where flails won't work (well, dwarves and other high armour toughness 4 units might be a tough nut, but that just requires more careful usage)
It ain't easy bein' green... :-)
