Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have been playing Empire for a little while, and played Imperial Guard in 40k for a long time, and have been considering collecting and playing Khornate chaos. What are some things I should consider? I am expecting a hard-as-nails relatively small army of magic-resistant foot troops charing up and slaughtering the enemy with huge numbers of melee attacks in a rage. What are some tactics and strategies and useful units? Are there any good tacticas or guides online? I win occasionally with my Empire but play Wood Elves a lot - which is discouraging, and want to play, model and paint some Khornate maniac berserkers.
I have also posted an army list in the army list forum of a hypothetical 1000pt list. I am curious to see your thoughts and will reiterate it:
1 Exalted Champion without any magical weapons and Mark of Khorne (any recommendations or good item combos)
13 Chosen Warriors with shield and 1 hand weapons, full command, MoK
10 Warriors with 2 hand weapons, full command, MoK
5 Chosen Knights with full command
As i said in your army list thread, Khorne work better with fast hard hitters rather than the slower infantry units. Decide on what you want (as you mentioned having a Warrior army but im kinda hoping i can change your mind lol) and then we can talk units and tactics.
i agree with deciever, chaos warriors are very cool, but they are very expensive for what they do. you may want to consider playing a khorne cavalry army. scariest way to play khorne in my opinion.
Yah I am thinking I am going to try and design a much faster army.
I am thinking now of using (at 1000pts)
1 mounted exalted champion with MoK
4 Chosen Knights with MoK and Banner of Rage
these 2 units screened by
two units of 5 warhounds
12 Chosen warriors with 2 hand weapons and shield with MoK
10 Marauders with hand weapons and shields
that is 5 dispell dice at 1000pts - should keep magic off my back too! Thoughts?
take the chosen off the knights and ditch the chariot for another squad of knights! also, you will probably need warhounds to screen with. i'd drop the infantry alltogether, also.
Hrm, it is tempting to take two units of Knights. What makes you recommend dropping Chosen off of them? At 12 pts a model, it is very steep I agree. I guess you are paying that 12 pts for only 1 more attack and one more armour save on an already heavily armoured model. I have never used a Chariot though and like the idea of it smashing into things. What are the advantages/disadvantages of a Chariot compared to another unit of Knights?
Secondly, why do you recommend dropping the infantry? I like the idea of them as insurance, and also to provide a clean up crew/second wave after the Knights and chariot (or potentially two units of knights) smash into the enemy's toughest units.
I do also have two units of 5 hounds? Is that sufficient to screen my faster units?
