This is my first post but i'll need some warhammer advice against the "very beardy" dwarves of my brother.
I play with the stand-in white dwarf list
my first army got massacres by those dwarves so i had to start over
My hordes of chaos campaign army consists of:
28 marauders with command group
3 heroes on warhorses with barding together(hero unit) (chose them because i couldnt pick any rare choice cavalry)(maybe also beardy, but i don't have many core picks from that white dwarf list)
dwarven army consists of:
1 unit of 24 thunderers on a line with 3 heroes BS5(levelled up)(so all of them can shoot because they dont have ranks)
1 bolt thrower(he purchased this with the money he bought from massacring my army and those of my friends)
and 1 unit of 25 warriors with command group
(and he was thinking about buying a cannon)
The first time i was playing him:
he just stood still and shot my 3 advancing core troops dead, couldnt get into combat
This time he wants to do it again ofcourse and he has even more shooting.
And if i get in combat he has a very strong warrior unit with 3 heroes in it....
Any advice on countering this?
or is this just not winnable.....
Hmm... this could be difficult. But, one unit of 24 Thunderers can only target one enemy unit per turn, so...
Wel, first off your heroes cant band together to form a unit of purely heroes. Just keep them cheap, and have them ride around alone. Use the Warhounds as shields from shooting if possible, though no good if the enemy is on a hill. A Cannon will be painful for a Chariot, beware of that.
As teh thunderers will all be in single line, or one back rank at most, try and hit them will multiple units simultaneously.
Maybe split your Marauders into 2 units, each 6 wide. No banner, but each with Champ and Music. Give them Flails.
Then.. pretty much just run at the enemy lol.
GET TO THOSE THUNDERERS. once you get thier they cant shoot get a hero who has a good ward save armour dosn't work get the hounds to go for them as well
From the looks of it, your brother seems to have most of his points in Thunderers. Might want to advise him to cut the number of them he uses down to half and spend the points on some better options asides from the cannon, since they're too costly to be used in that much quantity.
Out of curiosity, what hero choices do you and your brother use? What points limit (i.e. 1k, 1.5k)? Could give us some insight into what goes wrong.
Btw, if you have an Aspiring/Exalted Champion with the Mark of Tzeentch, then the Crown of Everlasting Conquest plus either a great weapon or additional hand weapon would be good. That could potentially be difficult to kill (if only ward saves were a little notch higher for Tzeentch Champions).
