Welcome to Librarium Online!
arrhhhggg my first 1500pt chaos game went so badly!!!
owing mostly to the fack my opponent used a steam tank and 2 canons...
canons were dealt with by magic but the steam tank was untouchable!!!
without lore of metal or a hell canon i cant see any way to beat it (my only hope is for it to blow itself up...)
unfortunatly this piece of kit is now a regular part of one of my main opponents army are there any easy ways of killing it?(other than hopeing for rediculously lucky rolls)
wouldnt ask but this is my first encounter with a steam tank and it realy threw me!
one thing that i cant easilly hak to pieces!!!
even mr khorney lord only made 2 wounds befor fleeing (outnumbered by fear causing thing...)
this piece of kit was so effective that i only managed to kill 5 swordsmen and 6 canon crew!!!
any sure fire way of killing it?
You could hire a dogs of war cannon and try killing it that way, sorry i do not play hordes of chaos so i can not be any more helpfull.
Wood elf player- 2000 points worth, Autumn theme
Empire player - 3000 points worth, Green and white
Eldar player - 1500 points worth, Blue and white
Take a Exalted Sorcerer and a Sorcerer against it. Mark both with Tzeentch. Have both use Lore of Metal. Watch as the Steam Tank dies a nice death.
You could use a giant. It's not going to be affected by terror, it's stubborn so the unit strength of the thing won't matter. Best of all, since the ST is a large target that automatically fails initiative tests, chances are in your favor the thing will take 2d6 wounds in combat. Even if it shrugs off the giant, that's going to cripple it for sure.
I think you'll find that these big things (Stanks, Greater Daemons, LRCs to an extent etc) are mainly there to scare you into reacting to it.
The more you focus on it, the more powerful it becomes, so fire off the occasional Metal bolt thing (the default spell from the Lore of Metal) at it, maybe get a DoW cannon and fire a couple of shots at it, and send in units like Dire Wolves or marauder Cav with Flails. Cheap, annoying units that could well do something (well, maybe not the Wolves...)
Vampfan's idea isn't too bad either, just know that the Stank has a longer charge range than the Giant.
thanks guys *quickly runs of to find a giant willing to pledge itself to chaos*
sadly i hate tzeench so no lore of metal but i may get a dogs of war cannon should be cheaper than a hell canon and a chaos giant (in points) so im guna change my list slightly (possibly) i may just charge some chosen chaos knites into it with an exalted champ in the unit... that way i wouldnt have to change my list...
thanks for the ideas my mind is now clearer (the thing squashed a whole unit of chosen worriors of khorne in 1 turn!!!) i will challenge him to anouther game (i probaly wont be able to get any new things in the list by then) but i will aproach with a different frame of mind...
Khorne, God of fluff frowns upon black powder.
Problem is that Khorne's displeasure won't help when his servants get squished under a massive hunk of metal and wood.
Khorne cares not whence the squish flows...
Mmmm, that's good squishi.
-NB, Khorne is not Apu from the simpsons.
Hmmm, And what about the lore of shadows?? The last spell?
The pit of shades it is called I think.. With the small template and everything under it has to take an initative test or is fallen into the pit.
And steam tanks always fail those tests it's gone with one spell... right? Or has it no effect because it has no strenght value? But this seems stupid, I mean, if a pit turns up under a steam tank, no way it has no effect on it.
Logically it would fall into it without any chance of escaping.
Am I right? (This would be my tactic to counter it)
