Just curious to see who is actually playing with it and having success. Hopefully I'll be able to test it out soon, after I'm able to pick up some models and get them built.
Ive played 4 games with the WD list so far.... twice khornate and twice tzeentch.. (with a little mixing up here and there,) and come across with an ok result - 2 wins and 2 draws, its not as crap as i first thought it was, though it does lack in variety. Basically each army is very similar, only the marks of your blocks of warriors seem to define the army itself.
Chariots are nice, cheaper and pack more punch than before (esp. khorne)
Warriors being cheaper is very nice, 6+ ward save for XX points is awesome!! Saved 4 / 10 attempts at a ward save, more than made up for its cost. (only one game however)
Lords are not that great, exalted champions are much better and you can have more of them for cheaper.
Very gutted about not being able to use beast herds + select units of demons, but hey.
Hellcannon is okish, taken it twice but has yet to make up its points cost in kills. (could be because i suck at guess range weapons)
Overall assesment - pretty much the same as the Hordes of chaos list, less variety but stronger / cheaper units makes it about equal to my previous lists in my opinion.
the WD list is great but it doent help my poor die rolls or bad judgement (sure chosen worriors of khorne can take on a steam tank?)...
the list lacks varriety but what it has got is good stuff...
worriors cheaper, characters cheaper, knites cheaper ect...
all i would say is that all the WoC lists i have seen look almost identicle.
all i have to work on now is to find a opponent in my local shop without a beardy army.
i have won 3 game but that was down to a down right dirty chaos lord on charriot...
here he is
armour of damnation
he was amazing lol the look on my opponents face when i told him his best hero hit on 5s rerolling hits wounding on 4s with a 2+ save (including modifyers...) thn he broke a combat by himself...
(i basicly squeezed as manny exspencive upgrades into my existing 1500pt army to make it 2000pt)
not the list im working towards however im not byeing anymore chaos till the new book comes...
but i now have 3 core and nice chars converted (just special to wait for now...)
o yes chaos brutes have been confirmed by my store HUZZAH!!!
So it's confirmed- any news on the release date?
The new list seems to be favoring the chariots, Heroes and Exalted over lords, and the usual Chaos Knights are still good.
There are alot of Khorne players- does that mean anything? Are Nurgle, Tzeentch, and Slaanesh still effective?
Well i played about 8 games with the list so far, only lost one (which was pretty much won by the unbreakable oath stone unit...)
The list itself is ok, i think the real problem is that apart for magic and marauder horsemen you dont have a whole lot to deal with things such as cannons, i think on of the reasons i have been doing pretty well is because im pretty much using the same style of list i have been using since 5th ed.
Still like with the old list Chaos lords are a waste of time, i do like our heroes having T5 again, just makes the chaos lord even more useless.
One more thing that ive really appreciated about the new list is being able to use lore of metal / life, they have some interesting spells (especially vs dwarf armies). Cannons are a bit annoying as i used to use a unit of screamers to take care of warmachines and lone heroes.
i play slannesh/khorne but i am fazing out my khornate ellements slowly (only 2 khorne units left) i cant wait for new lores for chaos they will make the magic faze les predictable (my opponets know all the spells already as we use the same lores...) lore of slannesh better be good or i will sue game workshop for the price of all my slanneshi units...
one thing that anoyes me is that WoC flee from everything!!!! i charged my worriors of slannesh into empire swordsmen and inflicted 3 casiulties they won the combat by 1 and ran me down (3 ranks banner i had lost my rank bonuses to canons...). and guess what i rolled for LD test double 6 arahhhhhhhh!!!!! then double 2 for fleeing distance!
i think WoC should cause fear to empire as we battered them in the storm of chaos but were undone at the last second (why?).
Yah i hope they will make the WoC army rule : Stubborn atleast..
GW needs to rerelease the 5ed Chaos book
madman, im guessing thats because your using your warriors like slaanesh warriors, chaos warriors really need a hero with them in order to generate enough kills to beat a fully ranked up unit.
Or you could just use a unit of 30 *looks at a certain WoC opponent he has =.=*
