Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ask them not to field it.
It does get as boring fielding a dragon every game as it does facing one.
i would get anouther dragon of your own you will do more damage as the guy rideing it isnt some ponsy elf!!!!
or get loads of spawn (all 4 in 2000pt games) then feed the dragon 1 at a time...

If someone helps you REP them...
lore of metal - spirit of the forge
VERY effective at killing dragons. And you only have to be kind of lucky with 1 or 2 sorcerers to make sure you have that spell. Plus enough power dice to cast it. Either that or go lore of beasts and try and get the one that holds the dragon in place for a turn.. then recast it every magic phase.
Even better, grab a champion on a barded steed, give him crown of regeneration and mark of tzeentch and challenge the ponsy elf on top of the dragon. chances are, you wont kill the ponsy elf but the dragon cant attack your champ while your in a challenge -- and he shouldnt be able to kill you with 1+ armor save, 6+ ward and 4+ regen save!!
(btw, i field a dragon sometimes and these are the 3 quickest ways to lose a dragon )
one other alternative is to get a couple of DoW cannons and hope you can aim them properly!
DoW Cannons seem to be the answer for everything.
Anyways, sorry to burst your bubble Binz, but mounts fight in challenges as well.
They do? Damn!! Where were you when i was getting trounced by a lizardman scar vet AFG???? I had my Lord on a Dragon stuck in a challenge for 4 turns because i couldnt finish off a scar vet with a -1+ armour save ...
my dragon wasnt able to attack as i thought mounts didnt come into the equation
(so scratch that idea of mine, and stick with the heavy magic and / or DoW cannons )
The rules for challenges are very clear - mounts do participate (in fact the rules for overkill specifically give an example of a lowly champion facing a lord and his dragon). In Chariots, crew do not participate in a challenge, and impact hits do not strike the character but the unit he is in, or his mount if he is mounted on a monster/chariot himself. That dragon would have been uselful, but also another source of potentially easier wounds for teh scar vet with a lower armour save and presumaly no magical doohickies to save it?
And in answer to the question - Dragons are actually quite easy to take out using Marauders or shooting- as on the back of a dragon is a very weak elf who isn't particularly well protected (if he's a mage). The Dragon itself is goign to be a significant threat, but you should be able to deal with it using your own heavy hitters like chariots and Knights, as it is "only" T6..Swords of Might are good for his task!
