Welcome to Librarium Online!
The two main armies I will be fighting with my chaos army are Vampire Counts and High Elves.
What are some tips against them both. I play Slaanesh so i'm immune to physcology so fear is no probs. It's getting bogged down and slain by zombos that is my worry, because I have about 22 warriors in my list all up! 1000 points, dunno if that's enough.
So yeah if you guys have some tactics you use against High Elves or Vampire Counts, i'd love to hear them
As a VC player zombies shouldn't worry you too much other than the speed bump trick. Which is where a zombie unit is raised in front of your unit so that you practically have no chocie but to charge. The zombie unit will be at such an angle that it will expose your flank to the rest of the army.
Zombies are extremely easy to beat though and if your ever in a combat with zombies and another unit go for the zombies. as each wound you cause them will count thrice fold once combat res is worked out (e.g. every wound you cause the zombie will be a CR point and every CR point is a further zombie casualty and a casualty for the other unit)
At 1000 pt you shouldn't have to worry about the drakenhoff banner (gives the entire unit regen) unless you play a rather beardy player but its worth noting that the varghulf has regen as well so a flame attack here or there couldn't hurt.
If your opponent has a caster vampire then most likely he's very squishy. CC oriented vampire though can give lots of headaches, don't ignore them! they are the ones giving the unit the kills it needs!
Finally. Kill the general. Simply put he should be on your top priority. At 1000 pts he should be dedicated support or CC as he would be weak if he tried balanced. If he's support he may have a 10 strong "bunker" unit or he may roam by himself with armor that makes him -2 to shoot at. Either way most likely he'll have the helm of commandment giving 1 unit within 12" his WS as long he is not in CC at the time (note this includes if he already beat the unit he was in combat with before he used this ability)
Hope it helps
Well, if your willing to dabble with other gods and are using the new rules, taking a wizard of tzeentch might be a good idea, as you can now get access to the lore of light. Undead are rarely happy to have that used on them.
with regards to high elves flank protection is the only real problem i would say a spawn on each flank is enuff at 1000pts or mabee a chariot at 1000pts they sould be feilding at least 1 unit of chavalry so just tiethem up antil you can get a unit of worriors in there.
dont worry about there archery to much (it rarely makes a impact in my games) exspect maybee 4 casiulties in each unit of worriors (not to bad) remember they strike first so dont worry about chargeing there infantry (if spearmen charge you all the better they get less attacks). try to destroy there magic quickly flames of the pheonix and furry of khain arnt funny! with regards to combat chars exalted champions beat them any day so just charge in! your scorcerors need to focus there attacks and you mustprotect your flanks well
once my wholeforce was run through by a particularly nasty attack...
VC shouldnt be a problem for Chaos, you have units like Khorne chosen knights that can destroy whole units in a single round of combat, as long as you can get to his general your in for a good chance of a win.
Tzeentch is certainly always a good idea if you think you want to try and out magic them, prooblem is he can go alot more magic heavy than you.
HE are easy, chariots, high T and armour are the key, chariots for swordmasters, knights, warriors with HW+SH for his other infantry, giants are always worth as laugh (as are spawn ).
i sometimes use a spawn to chace magic users (teclis comes to mind...).
but i generally use them to protect my flanks or to tie up units of knites (useually for around 2 turnes with silver helms or worce but otherwize its not realy worth it...).
but a great nusance unit and the closest thing we have to a skirmisher
The thing with spawn is you can use them to charge light cav, skimirshers, fliers that try to march block your lines people will generally flee these units because otherwise they will get bogged down in combat with a unbreabable high T unit and be unable to march block.
You can use them to hold units in place, i've done this when my frenzied unit has been baited to expose a flank, spawn charges in, hold tthe hold in place stopping the flank charge.
Both HE and VC are my main opponents too. If you could tell us what they usually run and what you have to work with would make it INCREDIBLY easier to help you.
VC tend to be harder for us do to lack of shooting. Being Slaanesh here is a must so you're already on the right track. Zombies should NOT be killing you by any means, maybe at MOST 1 warrior dies a turn. With WS2 they will hit you on 5's and wound you on 6's. If you have them, take a couple units of hounds. Keep some of the puppies close so you can use generals LD when trying to charge a flank, but if your enemy has one big nasty unit use these dogs to scare him and put them near their flank or rear, even though you should have no intention to charge when LD 5, mainly a scare tactic.
Against High Elves, chariots work wonders! You may want to make them khorne so they have 4 S5 attacks and 4 S4 from the horses. I like to run 2 side by side, right in the middle. Just dont charge anything with a ward save....
But deffinately if you could say what they tend to use and what you have to work with would make this alot easier.
Hope it helps!
nothing to see here, please move along
