Welcome to Librarium Online!
I want to start a descusion about what we as Chaos players want to get out of this new book. Now i want to start of by saying that the book isn't out yet, maby these concerns are nothing but I would rather get them out now instead of when I get my new book. Given what ive seen with the rumors, and they are just rumors, I'm a little concerned that what could be a good and fun addition to the warhammer game could end up falling into the catagory the was held by the previous DE book. Namely that they are fun to play as a second army but if you want to be competative and have a chance at doing well at tournaments your better off going with Deamons or VC. Now I realise that this is very premature and we still have a month to go but is seems that the re-vamping of the the new books seems to ride that razors edge of being under powered, over powered, or a good balance.
i have read the book at games day and all the "roumours" are acurate.

If someone helps you REP them...
Yep, it looks like the new Warriors list just might not be the way super cheesiest army possible. I would say go with Daemons. I would hate to play an army and know that it wasn't inherently a game winner.
edit: That being said, it looks like the Warriors army will be a far more viable army to play with your friends than it currently is. People will make decent tourney lists with it, and it looks like, at the moment, they may be somewhat cavalry based, as those options are very strong. In a game with more than one army with different style, it is next to impossible to actually balance them properly. I think they did a good job of scaling warriors back a little, although I wouldn't have minded if they had done it back with the daemons.

I have the book, and I will say that it certainly isn't along the lines of the Demons of Chaos, however I feel that this is a good thing.
The book is good overall. There is a lot of subtle power within the pages, though I think that the Gifts of Chaos section and magic items sections could have used a bit of love. The lack of skirmishers, and fliers outside of characters does sting, but a good general should be able to find a way around that.
It's Adventure Time!
2010 'Ardboyz Champion
For 325 you can get 7 Skirmishers plus a character in heavy armour with posioned great weapons.
Mengil Manhides Manflayers FTW.
-3 to hit at long range. With poisoned repeater crossbows.
They are on paid for life in my new chaos army.
Well as soon as the new book comes out where I am I'm going to try my hand at a smaller game before rolling back into tabletop gaming (maybe at around 500-700pts). Haven't played for awhile, and have some painting to catch up on before getting any more models.
The Chaos Gifts aren't too bad, though I was expecting more than what they're giving. Oh well, might as well just make use of what we have and get over it.
im not really all that impressed with it, the chaos rewards are total let down, especially consider how vampire powers turned out, while i wouldnt want something as abusive as that it would have been nice to have a slightly larger list that isnt restricted to one of each per army.
The magic items again are a massive let down, while i have seen a few broken combos this really just dosnt make up for the lack of overral power, one thing that really sting is that we are paying more points for most of the common items than the rest of the 7th ed armies (not the 6th ed army books).
I also really dont like the way chaos has pretty much moved away from using competitive mono god lists, for those who say you can should see a army thread i posted on another forum, nearly every single poster said i shouldnt just one god, the list isnt designed that way.
Its a ok book but it isnt something that really leaps out at me as properly play tested product, i still see alot of silly decesions in the creation (such as the giant being 20pts more than a standard one), the shaggoth being a massive point sink (meaning chaos seems to be the only army without the option for a decent rare tag team, not that i would use it, its the principle )
I cant understand how the corpse cart made it to core while the war alter ended up as a rare (in essence its function is much the same, army buffs).
From what I've seen and heard of this new book, it sounds fine. The models are absolutely freaking brilliant, the rules seem powerful yet not to the point that I would refuse to play anyone. The one concern I have is the new rules for mixed marks. I think GW could have at least put in some kind of "Sect Emnity" rule, as was covered on LO Chat last night.
But if you really insist on powergaming, the options are there too.
Hey, yeah, while sarcasm does tend to be a bad thing to use over the internet without making intentions clear... I was laying it on super thick because, quite frankly, I didn't mind the ambiguity. The OP was basically saying that he wanted a daemons style list, and if that's really what he wanted, I don't know that he would have appreciated the sarcasm even if I denoted it. Regardless, it looks like you caught along, and I do agree with your other points. I think the list will be fun and will have a much fairer chance to win under the command of a good general.
Honestly I'm thrilled with the new book, except for the shameless promotion of Khorne on the cover (1. this isn't Warriors of Khorne, 2. It looks way to 40k style with the icons on the helmets).
First off, Warriors are finally viable! They are priced fairly and are just all set to kick the crap out of things in CC.
The new models are pretty damn amazing.
The new magic lores are just nasty.
As for the mono-god themed lists not being competitive, who cares? There is no rule in the book that says you can't run one. There also to my knowledge is not a rule in the book that says mono-god themed armies automatically lose games. Either run the list you want and get good with it, or run it in friendlies and take a nice and nasty list to tournies.
Isn't it a little early for all the gloom and doom talk though? The book isn't even out yet people...
