I decided with the imminent release of the Warriors of Chaos army, I'd start my Nurgle force back up as my new Fantasy army, since I've been looking for one for some time. This'll be a combination Army and Fluff thread, with a possible WIP if I get a decent camera.
After pouring over the store copy of the Warriors of Chaos, I came up with this army list. Though I'm not happy with it and I'm trying to find room for more stuff:
Malakai Decidious, The Ringmaster of Festering.(Exalted Hero): MoN, Axe of Khorne, Shield, Favour of this Gods.= X Pts.
(Chaos Sorcerer): Lvl.2, MoN, Dispel Scroll, Power Familiar = X Pts.
(Chaos Sorcerer): Lvl.2, MoN, Dispel Scroll, Conjoined Homonculus = X Pts.
24x Marauders: MoN, Shields, LA, Champion, St. Bearer= X Pts.
24x Marauders: MoN, Shields, LA, Champion, St. Bearer= X Pts
15x Chaos Warriors: MoN, Shields, Champion, St. Bearer= X Pts.
5x Marauder Horsemen: Flails, Musician= X Pts.
5x Marauder Horsemen: Flails, Musician= X Pts.
5x Marauder Horsemen: Throwing Spears= X Pts.
5x Warhounds= X Pts.
5x Warhounds= X Pts.
14x Chosen: MoN, GW's, Full Command= X Pts
Chaos Warshrine: MoN= X Pts.
Chaos Hellcannon= X Pts.
Total: 2247 Pts.
Revised List: With the help of a few people on Chat I hammered out this list, I like it a lot better than the first list. Chaos really seems geared towards higher point games now, I'll probably try to get 2500-3000 soon, wouldn't be that hard really.
Edit: Added the Hounds and decreased the Marauders for compensation.
Fluff and Stuff:
My overall fluff spawned from an idea I had years ago, when the Carnival of Chaos models were just coming out. I had the idea of a circus dedicated to Nurgle touring the countryside of the Empire and instilling anger in the local peasantry, causing riots and mayhem in the streets in an attempt to throw over the Empire society.
The main target would be the land of Stirland, with it's poor and rural countryside. The Circus would tour this area, decaying and rotting crops, animals, and water supplies to further encourage the people that the government was against them. Those who truly embraced Nurgle were shown the light and mutated with many diseases, resulting in a large misshapen mob of mutants and freaks.
Taking a mocking paint scheme from Stirland, I was going to use the half and half of white and green seen on the Stirland Sea Patrol example in the Empire army book.
I placed an order for the Carnival Mordheim models, which I will use as various heroes and champions for the rabble horde. Taking a cue from the paint scheme of the Carnival on their box art, I was going to apply the previously mentioned paint scheme in the same fashion as the Red and Yellow. This will be an army wide look, to get some form of uniformity to the force.
I haven't decided just how the Chaos Warriors will be painted in this scheme, but I have a few working ideas.
For conversion work I have many planned and in the process. For my Marauders I have combination's of the Marauder, Brett Peasant, Empire Militia, and Zombie sprues to create varied mobs of decayed men.
For my Chariots, I plan to model my unused VC Corpse Carts as "Plague Carts". Instead of impaled Zombies pulling them, I'm using Plaguebearers to pull the Cart forward, with a bloated Chaos Warrior atop in a worshiping pose before the large pile of corpses.
My Warshine is my other conversion I have pretty much set, and I have dubbed it my "Plague Relique" in honor the Brettonian counterpart. I wanted to buy the DoC Nurgle character to steal his Palaquin for use with my Lords and Heroes. Not wanting to waste the cool Plaguebearer atop, I thought of the Relique and plan to have the peasants from that lifting up and holding the bloated model citizen of their god in adoration.
Few other ideas I got cooking up: A Circus Fire Eater, but instead of blowing out fire in a spectacular fashion, he is vomiting up a stream of corruption. Using my other unused VC models, I was going to take my Dire Wolves and paint them in Nurgle rot colors as infected Warhounds. Other ideas are a contortionist, knife thrower, Siamese twins, etc.
I have a lot of ideas written down involving my fluff, but nothing concrete as of yet other than the overall idea of a Circus. Soon though I'll have stuff written down.
That's what I have for the moment, if you have any suggestions or advice feel free to share, I'm always open to ideas .

Seems a well balanced list. How would you use the Marauder Horsemen? They seem a bit light-weight to be running around on their own. There are also no screening troops, as such. I thought that typically people threw on units of hounds to cover an advance as the army marched forward?
I'd be interested to hear how you'd play with this - as I say, it seems a solid and well-rounded army. I just don't yet understand thet tactics of WHFB enough to know quite how you'd use it.
For the Marauder Horsemen they are my March Blockers, War machine Hunters, Flank Chargers, and small unit hunters all in one. Marauder Horsemen are the only Fast Cavalry in the book now, so are pretty much essential for that kind of work. I felt they would just die anyways and gave 'em Flails for a better hit on the charge.
The smaller unit I was going to use for small screening purpose and the same type of work, I figured if they are running forward causing havoc that the enemy will focus additional wasted fire on them, as many of my opponents due in the game. They usually panic when I advance forward early on with Cavalry and like pouring fire into them as my main blocks move up unhindered.
My Marauders are my main blocks, and will be joined by the Sorcerers. They are meant to take a hit and stay in place. I dislike them being so big, but if I bring them back to 24 I honestly have no idea how I'd spend the point off the top of my head. Maybe some Warhounds, will take a look later. With the MoN on the Marauder blocks and the respectable armour save, they can hold well enough that I can get a better unit in the flank to finish them off.
Statistically speaking and point wise, Marauders are now identical in every way to Empire Swordsmen. This is great, with the bonuses that Empire get (Detachments) offset (Sorta) by the Marks of Chaos.
The Chaos Warriors are my main shock troops, breaking the more elite units and flanking to finish enemies off. With 2 attacks and WS5 they can get the job done quite well with an amazing armour save as icing on the cake.
The Chosen are just downright sick, as I explained in the other thread discussing them, you'd be hard pressed to bring a unit on the field that can take them down. With GW's they will strike at S6 (Possibly S7 if you roll on the thing on the chart, making them strong enough to take down Chariots.) and a -1 to hit and shoot them, Chosen will make their points back one way or another. I threw my Exalted Hero in here, since he'll weaken the unit with his initial attacks and can set challenges or what not when he needs to.
Warshrine and the Hellcannon are new to me, and I wanted them in the list for some fun and interesting twists to the list. Since Warshrines are new for every Chaos player, it'll be fun to experiment with this "Must have" unit. Being able to give units one of the Chart powers is amazing, and can help strengthen the force wherever it's needed.
The Hellcannon always looked good to me, but it was always to expensive and took to much space. Now with it's one rare slot and cheaper price tag I'm going to have fun with this amazing contraption of fiery hellstorm power. Plus I like Chaos Dwarfs, so that's an added bonus.
My overall plan is distraction, followed by the hammer. Ever piece has a purpose.
Sorcerers, with the MoN and extra power, will be my prime wizard hunters. The first Nurgle spell is a prime choice for taking down wizards. After that they have plenty of unit changing powers, and Nurgle magic is very potent at supporting a force.
The Marauders are the blocks, holding charges/giving charges and waiting for something to come charging into the flank and ultimately winning that battle.
Horsemen are like I discussed earlier, and will be a great and essential part of the force.
Exalted Hero will just murder whatever gets in his way.
Chaos Warriors/Chosen will be the main finishers, taking down units left and right.
Warshrine will support whatever unit is sagging with Chart powers.
Helcannon will kill stuff dead good.
Now I think that army works much better. Those hounds, I think, are vital to protecting flanks of infantry - or for covering an infantry advance from shooting.
But, do check this with someone who knows what they're talking about. Almost my entire knowledge has been garnered in the space of around 5 weeks!
I'll try it out in a few weeks, got to get all the models up and running and set a game up. Everyone is 40k crazy right now and don't bring their Fantasy much at the moment.
With the list, I would drop one chosen and give your EC a barded steed (if you haven't already made him) since you will get the same rank bonus, the same unit strength, 3 or 4 more points to try and get a muso on the 3rd horsemen unit (not sure if it's enough), and your EC will get an extra S4 attack and +2 to his armour save.
I know what you mean, I don't really like the look of mounted charecters in foot units either (unless it's a HoK in a bloodletter unit, but who can blame me), it's annoying they're so useful. Anyway, it doesn't really matter and in my opinion your idea of what you want your army to look like is the most important.
