what do you think will be used of these guys (with the new army book).
ogres are cheaper than trolls, but trolls benefit from throg, which is a pretty good hero...
and will dragon ogres and giants used?
I think the dragon ogres deserved a new model.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

The Dutch Legion
I like ogres a lot, str 6 atks with GWs, as opposed to trolls 5's, 4+ armor save instead of mutating 4+ regen save (call that a loss except against flaming attacks), they both cause fear, but ogres don't have to deal with stupidity. With Throg, you can partially mitigate stupidity by spreading out your +leadership, but it means you will be babysitting all your trolls, and can't send them around quite like you can with ogres. With M6, I want to be able to send them wherever I want. LD8 is still going to fail some stupidity tests, which suck, and LD4 is going to fail a lot of stupidity tests.
I'm not saying ogres are downright better than trolls, I just think they are worth consideration in a slightly different role, being slightly harder hitting, slightly more mobile, and slightly more reliable, while giving away being a fair amount more hardy, along with the ability to unreliably get gifts of the gods.
Dragon Ogres are a very nice unit which does tend to take a different role entirely. They are faster than the ogres/trolls with M7, not only does the extra 2" march and charge make a big difference, but M7 also means 3d6 flee/pursue, which can be a huge advantage. It also means they are more likely to get the jump on a chariot, which they can bust up with S7 (GWs). WS4 means they are less likely to be hit on 3's, and might actually have a chance to hit a few units on 3's. Finally, of course, the extra wound is huge. I see some people definitely using these if they have the time to convert them.
I do think giants will definitely be used. They aren't super cheap, but they are great at trashing other large targets, and they are fun. They also have a new rule in our book which lets them chomp down on large targets, gaining back some wounds. This makes them crush other large targets even better! At Stubborn LD10, they are fairly reliable, though you do still need to worry about lots of poisoned shots, or regular pincushioning, etc. Also, they are giants, everybody loves giants.
Also don't forget that from those three unit types the Ogres are the only ones which can get Chaos Marks. (oops, forgot the Giant, my bad. Well he can be marked, too)
And, well a standard bearer and a musician, too.
I admit even I use the former practically never, the Ogres aren't that big on passive boni anyways (and fielding 10+ Models to gain ranks is very costly and an unwieldy unit), but the latter is almost a given (losing combat because you left out a musician but your opponent didn't is very annoying)

It ain't easy bein' green... :-)
I personally love the new Chaos Ogres, I think I might go and buy 2 box of Bulls and slap on some armour to make them Chaos Ogre.
50pts a piece (mark of khorne, grt.wpn, chaos armour), getting a unit of 4 including a champion and that's 17 Str6 attacks and 12 wounds in total .. with the support from Chaos Knight units on the table, your opponent will want to shoot at them instead of the poor fatties. Once these fatties get into combat, 4+ save and S6 should make your opponent wish he had dealt with them instead.
I'm not too sure about the Trolls .. because they are Ldr4 or 5 stupid, which means I have to always put a character nearby to babysit them.
Dragon Ogres... meh, I rather get Chaos Ogres instead or save those points to get a Shaggoth.
Anima Tactics - try it out!
I've seen trolls be ridiculously resilient (not missing 8 regen saves is amazing) and I've seen them die in hordes. Usually, stupidity is only a once a game thing since they are near the general in a big ranked unit.
Chaos ogres are a lot better now since they are better priced and get marks.
Dragon Ogres are awesome. They're one problem was their cost, which has been lessened. So they are good to go. I converted my DO from the DO body and Ogre Kingdom torsos, so the models are not a problem anymore.
I've never been a fan of giants, so I'll probably never use them.
I think trolls will make a huge comback in popularity. Regen, marks, vomit. Dragon rogres will be popular but not as much as the shaggoth. Ogres I guess will be used, but nto as much as trolls.
If a Million Guardsmen die, that's a statistic. If one marine dies, that's a tragedy.
I think ogres will do allright, if for no other reason than they are easy to acquire. Ogre Kingdom models make a unit of ogres fairly inexpensive to use in games. The Shaggoth and dragon ogres are fairly expensive per model as are the trolls unless you score a deal on BFSP trolls on the internet.
I'd use dragon ogres if they made new models that looked like the pics in the book. Those pics are awesome...
Otherwise I think I'd play around a bit with trolls and ogres. Trolls are powerful, but they need to be babysat while ogres can play outside on their own. Or you could always take all three...
