Last night i had a battle against a high elf army and then a wood elf army with a deamon prince with Mantle of Chaos and Fury of the blood god and mrk of tzeentch giving him pretty solid magic and ranged attack protection.
I lost horriibly against the high elf player however it was my 2nd army list and he was extremely magic heavy and i seemed to lack protection. However against the wood elf player the Prince managed to take down 1 unit of 10 archers, 1 unit of war dancers, 1 unit dryads in CC, and shot another 1 to under 50% with his 1 spell and an atler lord. This alone caused a massicare on my poor friend (long over due, bloody tree huggers) but he never really done much in the high elf fight and in fact ran and banged into white lions and cut to shreads.
Do you thing a DP at 450ish points in 2250 is abit on the high side? i only had 2 other mages so its not like i filled my full hero chioces. would most not take a lord in 2250? any help or insight would be grand.
The problem with him is that he's too much a jack of all trades (master of none). he starts out comparable (but not better) than a Chaos Lord CC wise, but without access to decent magical bits and peices he's not s good. you can begin to toll him for magic but he soon becomes as expensive as a caster lord on a dragon, who is considerably more potent than him.
He is realistically way to overpriced. he doesn't have access to make him much better in combat. he costs way to much for a caster ability, has no ability to get much protection apart from a 4+ ward save and for the something that is meant to be the big scary monster of the army, being vulnerable to panic is a travesty, while it's physical stats are only realy comparable to an ogre or more powerful humanoid character (he's almost exactly the same as a Chaos Lord for example)
