I'm going out to pick up my ordered Khorne Lord on a Jugger in a short bit - a start to my chaos warrior army!
I'm looking for advice on what miniatures to buy, and any advice/tips on army selection and playing. I already own the book, but there are quite a number of options.....
Please do keep in mind I am not rich enough to spend and test things out, so I generally only want to gear towards one army list first, building up from 500 to 1000 to 1500 points etc. I also have a preference towards Warriors/Chosen/Knights, and do not truly fancy ogres/trolls/daemons. I'm a sucker for armored models
Hey mate. Chaos is a great army to start at the moment so you are in the right place.
I will just start with the fact that Deamons of chaos are actually a different army altogether, so no one here will be advising you to get any of those in your army. haha
So you have a khorne lord on jugger, this tells me you either just love the model or you are interested in a heavy armoured hard hitting force!
I think a couple purchases that will be very useful to you will be 1. Chaos hounds 2. Chaos knights 3. Marauder horsemen.
I can also see you running a couple bocks of warriors, as they are very good looking armoured models!
So if I were you i would maybe purchase the battalion box for starters, this gives you some hounds, knights, warriors and also some marauders, which i am sure you can fit into your army. This will be a great start and then from there, get some marauder cav and more knights as you go i think, as well as a sorcerer model, for at least a bit of magic defence.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply!
1) Sexiest model, ever.
2) I love armor
3) I love robotic looking things.
4) I love rhino's (always been my favorite land mammal ), which the Jugger does resemble, especially the older versions (I've been playing 40k for 12 years, so I still remember the old ones )
5) I like Khorne, lol
The only thing I never liked about Khorne's followers is their tendency to have bunny ears...
Do you guys give Warriors/Chosen marks, or do you guys keep them cheap? I like the Chosen models a lot, but its a pity they share the Special slot with the knights and chariots...are they still worth including?
I think you will find most people DO give their warriors marks, If not because each gives a nice effective buff, but it is also fluffy and gives your army that little bit more personalisation.
I won't be runing chosen myself, because as you say, they share slots with Knights and chariots, which i prefer both. But they are an ok unit if used correctly, I think they have to be supported well / shielded, so they all make it to combat, such as using dogs and walking behind some marauders.
Issue with them is, normal warriors hit pretty hard now and are cheaper, so many prefer the 'keep em cheap' option of taking warriors over chosen. Also that Movement 4 is a real downer on their points cost.
(I will let some others give their opinions now. haha)

I dont have a WoC army yet, but when i do i will definately have chosen.
For me the big difference between Warriors and Chosen is thier Chosen of the Dark Gods rule, I love the idea of using the Eye of The Gods table and getting one always good power for a unit from it is potentially very good.
I`d also get some War Shrines, but i dont know if theres a model for that yet.
Haha thanks for the replies guys.
I managed to get my hands on the Chosen Command, but I realized something slightly silly about the miniatures; I'm thinking shields are usually a better option for the additional survivability, but all the Chosen miniatures have Great weapons (or possibly halberds....the axeheads are so huge I can't tell what they are supposed to be ).
Lets say I wanted to have a Shield-bearing squad of chosen, do you guys think it would be alright if say I converted some of the plastic Warrior models (with shields, of course), and used them as the back ranks behind my Chosen command and say "oh, everyone has shields + hand weapon"?
I'm sure for friendly games no one would bother, its just for, say, tourney purposes haha
Well, the game rules are that the models are armed with whatever the majority of models in the unit is armed with. So, in that sense, yes, you could just call them shielded Chosen. However, you'd need to convert them far enough away from being ordinary Warriors to make it clear - otherwise I suspect you might have problems with people saying "but they're Warriors".
The chosen models look rubbish, I think the majority of WoC players will use normal warrior models for chosen and as long as they look a bit more extravagant compared to any normal warriors you'll be fine. If anyone doesn't let you use them in this way they aren't worth playing and if you go to a tournament it will only be one of 'those guys' who will make a fuss.
