Mostly how do we deal with HE dragons. Short of running a lord on our own dragon whats the best way to deal with this winged twit. I was thinking that we could throw our fast calvery at it while the rest of my army kills his.
Also can enemy dragons fly over our units. I know they can see over them but im not sure if you can charge over a unit of Dogs to get to the knighs behind them.
To your second question, yes they can. They can even charge over units if they can see them at the start of the move phase (which dragons can, being large targets and all).
Otherwise, no idea how to beat a dragon, sorry.
I guess you could try charging it with a chaos lord with a deamon sword and a unit knights with a war banner or so after having having a some nasty spells cast on him.
if that doesn't work then try to avoid it or feed it some warhounds.
hope i helped you
Tzeentch spell number 6?
on a more serious note, Dragons aren't really that bad for you Combat characters to deal with. ideally, You can have a lord, which has the potential to drop it one turn - high strength will remove the armour save mostly and we are blessed with quite a few attacks. it would aslo be hilarious to pull a glaive of putrefaction on one too, but that is a bit situational.
It also depends on what's on top. if it's a mage they often try not to get into combat often, and it is great if you can catch the dragon in combat and decapitate the rider, but the HE Fighty Lords are a pain because of ASF. In which case a bit of strategic Loss minimising is called for.
This is all assuming that you don't have a big nasty yourself of course. I would have to say that Chaos Lord on Dragon is probably the most devastating single model outside of the Greater Daemons in combat..
Uhm... we could convert an Archaon-mounted-on-Galrauch model and hit them with that? And flank them with Knights. and rear-charge with a chariot bearing a Lord.
Yup... that should just about do it.
Hellcannons could probably work- everyone loves high strength panic inducing stonethrowers that can eat just about anything the tries to charge them.
Other than that, knights with lances could probably work, as good a tooled up lord. If it weren't for dragon armour, I'd recommend using the flaming sword weapon. As it is, though, I'd say your best bets are probably things like the daemon sword, invinci-lord with a runeblade and everlasting crown and a shield, or multiple charges by knights and warriors with gret weapons. You're going to take wounds regardless, but you might manage to kill the dragon if you can hit it with multiple units at once (good luck with that, though).

Last time I fought a dragon mage the #1 nurgle spell killed the mage and the dragon decided he didn't want to leave the spot where his master died. Worked for me.
The problem was that his lord on a dragon ate the rest of my army.

I usually plau Kholek and I simply laugh at Dragons xD
Opponent:"Omg i charge your general with my uber Immortal DarK Elf of Doom on a dragon! You can't kill me, i have teh inverted Inv Save !!1!1"
Opponent:"Five attacks from the dragon...hatred! Four from my hero of doom...hatred! I wound on a 4+...ha ha! You failed those armour saves and got 3 wounds!you can't kill me!"
Me:"I smash the dragon...5 in...4 wounds...d3 wounds, you just lost by 6"
Without kholek I try to deal with dragons with magic and heavy cavalries.
I have a lot more trouble against Teclis and Thorek.

Realisticly, dragon ogres, shaggoths and properly tooled characters can deal swiftly with dragons, it's just to catch them on favourable terms.
As said before, Kholek can deal with nearly anything and come out on top. Since his storm bolt has no range limitations, pounding a dragon with it every turn will force your opponent to either engage combat, or deal with your Lightning god.
Cheese aside, A dragon of your own, or a manticore could very will deal with it. We have no reliable shooting, and magic might do the trick if you get proper spells.
The thing that you have to accept when playing against a HE lord on a dragon is that you are going to have to sacrifice a unit or two to hold the dragon up long enough for the Knights to do their thing.
Basically life sucks, there is only war and you're probably gonna get eaten by Tyranids, have fun.
