Yup, I'm hopping on the WoC bandwagon. It happens every time a new book comes out, I rush out to buy it and spend the next couple of weeks coming up with ideas on how to start the army and never get anything done. I'd actually like this to be different, so I'm coming to you Chosen to help ==Me== along the path to damnation.
I want to have a cheap 1000 point army and wish to expand to 2000-2250. I like all the gods equally and enjoy a good undivided horde. I'm looking for more fight than zappy magic, but it's definitely still an option (<3 Chaos lores). I know I'll need some zippy units like Marauder horsemen, Chaos Knights, and Hounds, but I also want some punchy Warriors and a good block of Marauders for static CR. [s]I'm not sure if I want monsters or not[/s] I want big gribbly monsters everywhere!
So, to start, here's what I've come up with using only the Battalion and a random Nurgle champion I had lying around.
Sorcerer-level 2, mark of nurgle, Power Familiar, Third Eye or Dispel Scroll
Marauders-20, light armor and shields, mark of Slaanesh, full command
Warriors-12, great weapons and shields, mark of Nurgle, musician
Chaos Knights-5, lances, mark of Khorne, Blasted Standard, full command
That's 997 points and uses everything. The Sorc will stick with the Marauders and do his Nurgley thing. The Warriors will get stuck in and chop things, same goes for the Knights, and the dogs will screen, flank, or whatever they need to. I know I want some Marauder horsemen in there eventually, probably getting rid of some Warriors, toning down the knights and Sorc in favor of 5 w/ spears, MoS and a musician.
To go into 2k I'm looking at either a casty Tzeentch DP or fighty Tzeentch lord, some Sorcs for magic defense or backup, 2 units of Nurgley warriors, a big block of Slaaneshi marauders, Slaaneshi horsemen, Hounds, Khorne Chosen Knights, Dragon Ogres (made from plastic Ogres and Cold Ones), and a Warshrine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think it's nice.
I think you probably ought to see where you can shave points for some Marauder horsemen (£12 of goodness!) which work well with knights for flanking, baiting and harrassment.
Can you find room for spawn? Again a good choice for any budget, you get two in a box and not only are they useful, they look groovy.
I think the Dispel scroll is preferable to the third eye (save it for bigger games). What about the magic item that's a bound spell magic missile? It would be a cheap way of becoming more powerful in the magic phase.
One last thing. Don't forget that your Nurgle Sorcerer will have to challenge in every combat, and he sucks at that. Be careful how you use him.
Oh shoot, you're right, I may have problems if I have to challenge with ==My== Sorc. I guess he'll need an enchanted shield then and I don't think I could fit in a magic weapon after that.
What about a combat familiar, enchanted shield, and maybe the Homonculus?
I suppose I could just go for a hitty Exalted with Berzerker Sword or Collar of Khorne and Sword of Might.
For a revised list, I'll drop 2 Warriors and the standard on the Knights in favor of 5 marauder horsemen with flails, MoS, and a musician.
Here's ==My== idea for bringing the army to 2k. 1 Battalion, 1 box of Knights, 2 boxes of Marauders, and a Corpse Cart to convert into a Nurgle war shrine. I can convert a Lord or Sorc Lord mounted on a Chaos steed and find some bits for another Sorceror and I can use some old Chaos Ogres from ==My== brothers' BoC army.
I was also considering getting a box of Cold One Knights and Ogre Bulls to convert into 3 Chaos Ogres and 3 Dragon Ogres, do you think that would be a good idea?
Maybe if you stripped the expensive stuff away you could afford a cheap scroll caddy wizard and an exalted with something simple like a Halberd (suprisingly effective) and shield.
You'd have to lose the banner of Wrath though, as it'd just get dispelled all the time the way only bound spells do.

That's a good idea, although I prefer Mark of Nurgle for Marauder Horsemen. The swap out would make sense if you were to downgrade your magical impetus.
I've seen some conversions of Ogres and Cold Ones and they look quite nice and, more importantly, cheaper
I like MoS on Marauders because it's cheap and with Ld7 Fear, Terror, and Panic are a huge problem. With MoS I can negate that and still have the option to flee, which is awesome.
I'm having trouble with making a sturdy exalted hero without the MoT, a 6+ ward just doesn't cut it and I don't think I want to shell out for Regen and leave him without anything beyond a Halberd or GW. I think I'll stick with the Sorc and give him the Power Familiar and Book of Secrets (can I swap the randomly generated spell for Flaming Sword if I wanted?) or a Power Familiar and Enchanted Shield.
For 2k, would 1 unit of Nurgle Warriors (most likely with the Frenzy Banner) and 1 unit of Knights (MoT and Blasted Standard, 4+ ward against shooting! or MoK for the extra attack?) be sufficient if I back them up with a Warshrine, some Marauders, a hitty Lord on a horsie, and Dragon Ogres?
