Hello everyone, I am a new general to the forums and a new woc general. I have a question in reference to Archaon, has anyone used him? I am building a 3k list and a I want to use him as my general- my thought was to place him in his unit of chaos knights, that will be marked w/ korne. To protect them from being baited around I will have them escorted by hounds- the unit sounds just plain sick. Has anyone had any exp/ thoughts on the effectiveness of the unit? I am mainly fighting elves (he we and de) and empire at my club. My other hammers are a ec bsb banner of rage on a jug w/ a unit of 3 do w/ gw and a giant mon.
I am hoping archaon and my bsb units don’t end up running around like angry soccer hooligans-
This is the problem. If you do take him with a frenzied unit then this can be an issue.
The better setup for your knights is to give them the Mark of Nurgle and a Banner of Rage. Admitedly Archaon and his mount would benefit from the extra attack given by the Banner of Rage but tactically speaking he could be an issue.
Use the knights to carry him as far as needed and then have him leave the unit to engage whatever you want him engage. Despite the fact that he is a single model, once he unleashes the Slayer of Kings he can break whole units by himself.
Basically life sucks, there is only war and you're probably gonna get eaten by Tyranids, have fun.
