I voted Nurgle but I ask why go anything? Better to leave your options open.

nurgles the way to go, -1 to hit and -1 weapon skill means most basic units will be hitting them on 5s in combat, really you theres no need to avoid the test -1 to shoot you, you might not have to take the test!

I tend to make a list for an army and try to give it the best chance against any army. This is usually the list I use all the time (with small changes). I'm not a huge fan of making lists before each game because if you know what you are fighting it tends to cause metagaming.

It also helps me to build a story around my army. An example is that I play my friend Undead Bonzi almost exclusively, so our army generals will probably develop back stories about fighting each other. Changing marks for me (or daemon heralds for him) wouldn't fit such a story very well. For that same reason if I do any mixing, it will be with gods that in the history of the fluff didn't hate each other very much.

So my Slaaneshi exalted hero will probably have a tzeentchian sorcerer helping him.

Nurgle is easily the best lore of all the magic you have available. The -1 WS and to hit is also really good on your important units. The most competative is obviously a mix. WoC don't have the greatest leadership so not taking psych/panic tests is great and cheap (slaanesh) Nurgle is great in combat and like I said the best magic available. Khorne can be really good in combat and deals with most psych issues, but has one noticeable drawback.

If you had to go just one mark - nurgle is the way to go I think because of the magic and the fact that you get to reroll panic tests for the whole army anyway, so they are harder to fail from the start.
