just wondering how other people like to use their chaos knights and what marks they like to give them?
i prefer using tzeentch or nurgle as i have control of them abit more then khorne knights and they also have cool abilities with the marks! the -1's are fantasticly annoying for opponents and the 6+ ward is cool when combined with the blasted standard!
let me know
Nurgle is great all-around, of course. Slaanesh is fantastic if you're up against undead or intend to hunt Fear/Terror causing monsters. Those are the two I tend to consider first.
... question, somewhat on topic: If an unmarked character joins a marked unit, does the character gain the benefits of the mark? Is it specific to each mark, common sense wise? Nurgle, I can see MoN carrying over to a character in a unit, simply by way of being surrounded by models with the mark. Or would he not benefit if he were picked out of the unit by a bolt thrower, a magical thrown weapon or something? Tzeentch, does an unmarked Sorcerer gain the ward save and the +1 to cast when he joins a marked unit? Somehow, I would think not. I assume MoS follows the rules for ItP, as does MoK and Frenzy, with regard to an uneffected character joining an effected unit.
I don't mean to hijack your thread, Ranu, just looking for a quick answer.
its cool dude not a problem, i believe as long as the traget is the unit not just the individual character then i think it does work like that! but im not sure!
i would only use slaanesh if i knew i was going to be facing lots of terror causeing foes with knights as they already cause fear so fear wont effect them!
Good point. Truth be told, I almost always default to Nurgle where my knights are concerned. I haven't decided yet, but I may even paint them with a green Nurgle theme, as that seems to be the mark I go with 9 out of 10 times.
Marks aren't passed on to the character by the unit. The standard build seems to be Nurgle with Banner of Rage, basically 2 marks in one awesome unit!
I've been playing around with lists and flirting with the idea of starting a WoC army. I like the idea of Nurgle Knights accompanied by Slaanesh Knights. I like Slaanesh because it says they're immune to fear, terror, and panic, but it doesn't call them Immune to Psych. So you have a unit with the benefits of being ItP but one that can still flee voluntarily. Of course being immune to fear doesn't matter much to fear-causing knights.
Nurgle, though, keeps you alive in both the shooting and combat phases.
I would take a different approach on knights and just consider them shock troopers.
So 6 knights marked khorne, with no command units, wielding ensorcelled weapons.
If you have a little gaming experience with frenzy you can avoid being lured around, and everything you come across should be wiped out in 2 rounds if it doesn't break on the charge.
And if the knights do not come to cc, okay, it's less than 300 points, and the enemy must have put some effort in killing them.
Two units of these, maybe paired, will get all the enemy's attention.
It's better, it's shiny, it's warped...it's Chaos.
Mark of Khorne is fun, to be sure, but ...
I had thought of doing a unit with the mark of Tzeentch and the blasted standard. 4+ inv save in the shooting step, i come up against some cannons so that helps, cause what is one of the very first units shot at? knights
I shall call him Squishy, and he shall be mine, and he shall be my Squishy.
Khorne is handy too, as they are also immune to ItP while frenzied. Most importantly, Undead can't flee. Besides that, Knights already cause fear...Slaanesh is fantastic if you're up against undead or intend to hunt Fear/Terror causing monsters. Those are the two I tend to consider first.yes it's awesome, but you pay the points for it. 5 bare Khorne Knights would've performed almost the same. If the points are there though, go for it, it's a nice unit. The standard build seems to be Nurgle with Banner of Rage, basically 2 marks in one awesome unit!
As for me, it's Khorne Knights all the way. The huge amount of attacks takes away the need for a command, and my army is also themed Khorne anyway, so the choice is easy enough
