I have a 1500 worth of chaos models and first bought them all second hand pior to the new Army books release. They are the older edition models, you know the ones without capes, and I've been using them happily for a while.
I currently use 12 of my chaos warriors, which i have tarted up a bit, and called them my chosen. But with the release of the new chaos chosen some of my opponents have been getting a little snotty about them.
I have a feeling when the Forsaken models come out, my home made Forsaken will get the same treatment.
Well anyway, I haven't got $70 to buy some new chosen and there not that much cheaper on eBay. So I was wondering what some of the older chaos players did to differentiate their normal warriors from their chosen (I have lots of spare parts)?
A cheap way people have done them mroe recently is to use some of the knight spare parts - lances as halberds, use the kngiht heads as they are more individual and to use their fancy shields.
Ack, I remember those old Warriors and to be honest when the new ones came out i was so over come by them i binned those 'multipose will never rank up full plate armoured Orcs'
The way i did my chosen of old with the new style warriors was to just paint them elaboratly. If you have the skill paint some runes on them, chaos symbols and anything to make them stand out. Hell you could even just put them on some awesome base. Have their base to look like the ground is catching fire in their wake or something mad like that.
My new Chosen consist of warrior legs with the torso's, arms and shields of the new kngihts. They look pretty fancy.
Thats exactly what I am going to do.
Knight parts+regular warriors. The result will be much better imo than the metal ones, plus I freaking hate metal.
If you don't have any knight lying around, get yourself some plasticard and create your own halber blades.
yeah, I'm with very_original, tell those guys to buzz off. 1. The new chosen models look terrible in my mind, so even if someone gave me 20 of them, I'd sell them as fast as I could before I ever fielded one on the table. 2. They are your models, and it is a game so anyone who is that picky about the models you use should place a new chaos knight up their nose and count to 10 before they say anything, because that is just plain rude and in bad taste. I'd either keep using what you have, or model some new ones like has been mentioned, or get some black orcs and use them as your chosen models.
