I have thinking of including a few units of Chaos Ogres in my Khorne themed army. The only issue i have found is that the current Chaos Ogre models look so ridiculasly stupid there is no way im going to sink $100 in those blobs of metal. The alternative models i thought which would be perfect are the Ogre Kingdom Bull models.
I'm intending on replacing and Ogre Kingdom-esque things with Chaos stuff but with out going over board but doing simple things like replacing the gut plates with Maruder shields. Would these be acceptable to field even in the most strictest tournament enviroment? I want my army to be tournament worthy.

This is a common practice now between the WoC generals these days and Its a good plan and money saver as well. I do myself and My plan is to have some great weaponed nurgle ogres with some ideas for conversions to make them look more nurgley. I like the idea of mayby a spider body.
I am buzy with other things in the army the now but its good to to keep them painted appropatily say for khorne paint them red leathers and Do the metals like brass colours. Also just make sure there armed as it says in your armylist.
A few khorne signs on the banner bearer and ogres would be very good to . I just had a idea if you dont mind conversions then try give the ogres lower bodies like a brass scorpian from the 40k and epic range game,I would love to see that.
You should post some pictures when you get around to making and painting your ogres.
way to steal my idea =P p.s. there's already a thread about this a few down from this one!

I think though you can't use LoTR models in official tournaments.

I know this is more expensive than the Plastic ogre models, but i used and converted the Blood Bowl ogres. They look awesome and are in really nice poses. Plus they're more dynamic and threatening than the plastic ones; I just swapped their hands with some plastic ogre ones i got off a mate.
I converted my ogres from the iron guts models all you have to do is give them suitable chaos-y additions, lots of spikes, mutations, hanging skulls, chaos runes and they fit the part perfectly!!! If you plan on using them with chaos armour you may want to sculpt new armour onto the models or just find bits of scrap and make it look like plate metal.
