So I don't understand the D6 SD6 bit. It looks like d6 hits at strength d6. Tzeentch's 1st spell is a 4+ to cast and is better than that, while Rot takes a 12+. Do you think it's a misprint for D6 S6? That would make a bit more sense.
~But Rot, Glorious Rot allows every enemy in 18" take the hits with no armour saves. More than worth it! Deliciously so!
Indeed. Flickering Fire targets a single unit. RGR nails everything within an 18" radius. Huzzah!
... that alone is worth the price of admission, even before you consider the no armor saves.
The Blessed of the Four
By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes.
Okay, I see. Fly that behind the enemy and let it pop. Or suck someone into a protracted combat and blast away with it. Brilliant on my part, eh? I feel stupid for not making note of that.
So does anyone take Slaanesh? The spell choices seem poor, with all the ItP armies and units out there.
Ya from what i can tell not many people use Slannesh because of exactly that: all the ItP units etc. It's not very strong magic, especially not when put beside Tzeentch or Nurgle. Against some armies I can see Slannesh being very very useful, but for an all comers/tourney list, it's just not reliable.
2010 WoC Cav W/L/D - 7/3/1
against wood elves or bretonians though, lore of slaanesh is godly, tintilating delusions is funny when you tell a unit of grail knights to go sit in the corner for most of the game while you tear his wobbly-bits to shreds lol, and the first spell not only damages but prevents marching on any unit it hits, BAM, have fun getting into position you filthy fairies!
Chaos Warriors (2009) 16-4-9
Had RGR go off and kill 6 saurus coldone riders. Was a game changer. Cleaned up a flank for me. Not to mention it also hit 3 skink units and a terradon I think. Such a great spell. Love the name too.
But look at the top spell for each mark. Slaanesh's is quite nasty against anything T4 or less. On t4, you've got a 33% chance of whacking someone. T3, you've got a 50% chance. And with no saves whatsoever, it could really be devastating. Imagine that against Demons of Chaos.
I think you have stumbled on something. Or perhaps I am being unkind by saying stumbled, perhaps you have deliberately and competently pointed something out...
The lore of Slaanesh is unconventional and yes there are some spells which would not be very useful against ITP opponents. However Ecstatic Seizures is absolutely awesome. It would wipe the smile off the face of many a "my-lord-has-a-1+-save-2+ward-and-3+regenerate-player"
Toughness test please.
Ah, you have rolled a six, you take a wound, your last wound. You vampire lord is dead.
Wait! Don't I get an armour save?
Ward save then?
Phew I will be saved by my regen save!
Nope. You're dead!
I think slaanesh is the sleeping giant of WoC. Their units are ideal against psychology heavy armies and have great staying power. The magic is subtle but awesome.
In short. Tzeentch and Nurgle are in your face lores which will always serve you well, but Slaanesh still packs enough of a punch to be considered equally valid as a choice, imho.
What happens when you got a nasty lvl4 lizard that costs 400 points and you get faced against a demon army and you roll no spells that can affect them?
