Ive already got the Army Book shipped out right now, so im just looking at models to get right now. Im on about a $100 budget so I was looking at the Battallion and a Chaos Champion. Does anyone have any other suggestions or should that be good for a begginner.
Absolutly perfect for beginning. That is probably about a 1000 point starting army right there (depending on your character though).
Warriors of Chaos Khorne Army WiP
Check it out!
First things first let me be the first to welcome you to Librarium Online TAMH. Its always good to see new people on the site.
In regards to your question the batallion box and a chaos champion is just fine for starting out, indeed that is what it was designed for It has a good mix of troop types so you can decide where you want to take your army when you eventually expand.
One thing is a must when you do expand to 1500pts, expand the warriors you get to 15 strong and either expand the marauders to about 25. best led by your champion on foot or replace them with a second unit of chaos warriors.
One of the best additions is also a unit of chaos knights with Enchanted Handweapons, Mark of Nurgle and the Banner of Rage, its like having two marks at the same time with 3 strength 5 magical attacks....they rock on the table top as well as looking great as models.
If you have any further queries just post them and we will all be happy to help you.

Basically life sucks, there is only war and you're probably gonna get eaten by Tyranids, have fun.
A battalion box and an Exalted champion is the best way to start imo. For around $100 you already have around 1000pts of army. The battalion itself is around 560pts WITHOUT any kinds of upgrades. With upgrades and an Exalted champion you'll have smack right 1000pts of goodness. I'd say slap in a Sorcerer also so you won't miss out on the magic pahse but that would be over the $100 budget.
Sorcerer is a good addition, I suggest getting one on a steed. Since its perfectly feasible to only have a lord and a sorcerer in a 2000+ point game, you'll already have your characters done.
If you've got some spare cash, By the Empire wixard Box. You're getting 2 wizards for pretty cheap. You can use some of the marauder horsemen cool bits to make them more chaosy and do head swaps and the like. Other than that? Yeah Battalion and a character is an awesome place to start!!! It gives you a wide selection of troops to start off with so you can use different tactics and ideas.
Welcome to the winning side by the way
Since I'm a hardcore all cavalry type of guy, I should also point out an alterative.
2 boxes of marauder horsemen
2 boxes of chaos knights
1 mounted sorcerer of chaos.
Equals like $103 and gives an insanely hard hitting 1000 points.
2 units of 5 marauder horsemen with flails and mark of khorne 105 points each
2 units of 5 chaos knights with mark of nurgle and musician standard. 260 points each.
Level 2 sorcerer on chaos steed, either nurgle or tzeentch. Items might be book of secrets and power familiar to give you a nasty 6 casting dice at 1000 points. That's like 190 points.
That's 920 points. You can use the left over 80 points for magical banners, gift of the gods, or unit champions.
Was staying away from the dogs since it costs more to buy them and he has a $100 budget.
I didnt even think about the calvary option. That does sound somewhat appealing. I also do like the idea of a sorcerer. When I do go to my local (if you call and hour away local) GW ill look over the models in person. Right now I am leaning towards the calvary option, but Im not 100% sure.
Thanks for all the help,
