Can any of you advise me on what I should be fielding against Lizardmen and Wood elves in a 2000 point game?? As far as i know the lizzie player will be usin a slaan with chikax, teta'ekoa couple of stegs and some skinks. As for the WE guy I don't have a clue.. trees i think :-P any advice would be great, my game is on sunday so any help u can give will be fantastic.
You're gonna want some dispel dice and/or magic resistance on those Lizzies. Be careful taking the Black Tongue, they have a magic item that allows them to pass one miscast on to you. Are you familiar with the new Slann abilities? He can take up to 4, so there's a lot of messing around there.
Chaos Knights are going to be good if you can keep them safe If you don't want to pack on scrolls or a hero w/ Collar of Khorne, consider Trolls or XHW Dragon Ogres.
Edit: Expect the Lore of Metal on his Slann.
Trust in your core choices - love them, hate them, wish them dead to clear charges, but remember that come end they will pull off a miracle for you.
Whoever you intend to fight chikax with, put a chaos runeshield on him, this negates alot of his weapons special rules and makes him FAR less awesome. he's still hitting first, BUT he won't kill you in that one round of combat.
Against woodelves, the flaming sword tears up treekin and giant trees VERY quickly.
Chaos Warriors (2009) 16-4-9
thanx for the advice guys, i'll start cracking on with some lists !
the mark of slaanesh should be considered on some of your foot troops or guys that will be a bit away from the general, those stegadons, if played correctly, are basically terror bombs and will be hard for the smaller more elite units of chaos to handle if they get charged.
static unit strength 10 on a terror causer can be rough to the standard 12 man unit of warriors, and with the small frontage it will be hard to get a ton of attacks in when in base to base with the steggy. With MoS, even if the steggy gets in a good round and wins combat, your smallish units of warriors or knights can still hold.
some nurgle sorcerors would be a great thing to try and pling the skink priests off the backs of the engine of the gods (if he is bringing some, which for the cost....they are insanely overpowered and I would think you will see at least 1 or 2 eventually). With the skink off its back it goes to just a normal steggy.
If you are facing multiple engines, be careful not to clump your units together too much, remember they have "the Burning Alignment" that they can set the engines to in the magic phase, you can't dispell it or block it and it can reach out 2d6" from each EoTG. It can hit units in combat as well, and if they have multiples you can overlap. With it being d6 strength 4 hits and no armor saves allowed on each unit hit, if you get caught between a few your hard troops will be dead on 4's or better and their 1+ or 2+ AS wont matter a bit.
Im normally not a fan of the hellcannon in play (I love the model itself though, which was the only reason I bought one) but I would almost consider throwing one or two out there if I knew I was facing lizzies with a few Engines of the Gods.
Only other peice of advice is like others have mentioned, for all practical purposes consider Chakax the Eternity Warden a chaos character in terms of challenges, he has to if able just like our characters and he is lethal in a challenge. The Runeshield is a good idea and make a B-line for him with that character and a fast unit so you get the matchup you want.
