are several choices that all seem to be the same:
are Chaos Warriors with an increased weapon skill, with the mark of Nurgle Can have a 5+ to be hit with standard races,
They also have a random roll on the eye of the god that will give them survivability
They don't seem to be worth their special slot or the real world price,
Yet they have nearly the same point cost as Warriors, which their difference is well worth the roll on the eye of the gods and the extra weapon skill
Seem to be the work option
They do have an unpredictability about them and only have Heavy armor,
but they have a movement of 6, not worth points
Ogres, Dragon Ogres, and Troll all seem to be very similar.
Ogres benifit from being able to have a standard, and a mark, but once you have put those options you better off going with Troll
Trolls have an unwieldily low leadership with stupidity they need to be near the general, 3 wounds and can regenerate,
Next is the Dragon Ogres, which higher movement, weapon skill and leadership, with an additional wound.
Finally is the Chaos Knights which have a high leadership, steeds and the ability to 1+ armor save
but only one wound each, and are prone to being shot at by artillery
Not sure which is the best, they all seem very similar
Please help tell which is better
Firstly, nobody is going to come out and say 'this special choice is the best', they're going to mention (rightly) that they all have a niche and excel within it. That being said, Trolls are the best special choice we have (best Core choice, too!)
As far as the monsters go:
Ogres are usually employed as throwaway chargers or fear causers - for not much more than a Marauder Missile you can buy 3 models with S4 T4 3W 3A and SPD 6. Small units like this, I've found, are excellent for putting pressure on shooting units and warmachines, forcing your opponent to divide his attention between them and your real threats.
Trolls are amazingly good all-round. With 3 wounds and regen they're fantastically tough against most anything and they actually get stronger as they get hit. The vomit ability gives them wonderful versatility, as well. If you can minimize stupidity they're comfortable just about anywhere from front and center to a flanking force.
Dragon Ogres are the real juicy elite of your monster forces. They're faster (and roll 3d6 for pursuit!), have an extra wound (so a bolt thrower can never kill one in one shot), and they're S7, so they wound almost any US1 model on a 2, and smash chariots real good.
Trust in your core choices - love them, hate them, wish them dead to clear charges, but remember that come end they will pull off a miracle for you.
Dagon Ogres are the best, but I say this solely because raverrn said nobody would say anything along those lines.
Anyway, this is one of those questions which is all about the situation, not the unit choice alone..
Chariots man, no contest.
See.... Questions like this are NEVER going to get a straight answer lol. You've asked a question based on people opinions.
That said i will have my pennies worth.
Chosen, They're just great, and are a steal at 18pts, the fluff is awesome and more importantly it gives you a damn good excuse to do some mad conversions. I'd pay for them even if they didn't have the EOTG roll.
Chariots. I personaly think these boys are the unsung hero's of the chaos army. A pair of them is cheper than a unit of knights and can do FAR more damage than them on the charge. 2 chariots is 2d6+2 Str5 impact hits. 8 Str5 attacks from the crew and 4 str 4 attacks from the steeds. What can dish out that much hurt for 240pts??? Plus they're Toughness 5 with 4 wounds and a 3+ save. They're not going to be taken down easily.
Monsters. Now Ogres aren't the same as trolls, Nor are you better off with trolls instead. Ogres whislt possibly not being as resilliant, don't have stupidity, So they can be a flanking unit. They also have options for different weapon fits and as has been said, command. Dragon Ogres, I see these as more elite Ogres. They're faster, have higher Movment, Str, WS, Wounds and LD but they cost twice as much as an Ogre so you need to think what else you want in your army.
Personally, At 3000pts i have 4 chariots. Seeing 2 Pairs of Chariots really puts with wind up people and they brilliant for protecting the flanks of a foot slogger army.
2 marauader cruise missiles. 20 str 5 attacks, 20 str 3 attacks. 210 points. And alot less random. And don't suck up to specials. But I agree, our chariots are some of the best out there. What can dish out that much hurt for 240pts???
I personally like our knights and dragon ogres. And would choose chosen over warriors if I would go foot heavy. More expensive, but well worth it.

Chariots are kind of a guess to use nowadays. With the high value of unbreakable daemons and undead, and alot of stubborn units(stegadons) the power the have on the charge isn't really that great. With a random amount of attacks they might disappoint you terrible. Also they NEED mark of slaanesh or khorne. How many times have i seen my support chariots hold there ground instead of helping my other units.
There still not bad with 4 W T, but i rather spend these points elsewere.
The specials i think are best are knights. With khorne for 230 points there unit frontal killers. They have the speed, the armour, and the fear factor.
Second are dragon ogres imo. Speed, and high T,W, and S make them terribly good. I almost always us them with additional hand weapons and tear enemy infantry appart.
Yeah true lol, although chariots have the whole T5 4 wounds and the 3+ save to boot.
As for unbreakable units. If you are charging two chariots in the front of say skeletons, The amount of damage these boys will do to those T3 units will sometimes be enough to shatter the whole unit when you get down to crumbling due to combat Res. Especially If you can get a unit to Flank them. As for Deamons, the same applies, Ok they have a 5+ ward, but most of them only have T3 and a the end of the day, a 5+ save is still only a 5+ save. Although anyone who charges them into a Plaguebearer unit with a herald in there deserves to die lol.
But yeah, Mark of Slaanesh is a good little upgrade for them.
Yes you have a random factor of the impact hits. But as a minimum you're kicking out 4 auto str 5 hits plus the crews and steeds attacks and thats if you're stupidly unlucky.
the best part of dragon ogres w/ great wepons is the fear factor they have with the opponent- nothing is safe from them- knights are a close second- not too discount chariots, but they are a support unit. I have never seen them take a combat on their own. That being said best tactic ever with a chariot is pull your fast cav right in the face of your opponent- flee from their subsequent charge- through the chariot, voila 2 or 3rd turn charge from the chariot!
