So, as confirmed by GW's FAQ, the Favour of the Gods item can be used by a Unit-champion of Chosen to alter your EoTGs roll for the whole unit. Also, at the beginning of the game, Chosen reroll any "The Eye is Closed"(7) or "Insanity"(2) results. My question is this:
Can you use Favour of the Gods to change your EoTGs roll to a 2 or 7 to force a reroll?
This seems absurdly cheesy to me, but it appears to follow the rules of the item and the unit in the WoC rulebook.
I'd say no, as it says you can reroll any result of your original roll, But I'm sure others would be able to see this from the other side so I'd say agree with your oponent before-hand and go with that.
Chaos Warriors (2009) 16-4-9
The wording for the Chosen says "re-rolling any 'the Eye is Closed' or 'Insanity' results until another result is obtained." It doesn't appear to matter what you initially rolled, only what the results were, ie results after applying Favour.
Here is my take on it. tell me what yall think of it.
If you roll a natural two you cannot modify it and you can reroll it.
If you roll a seven you can modify it or you can reroll it.
Now I just realized the issue I think though. Can you modify the roll to get a reroll. It doesnt say anywhere that you cant do that but it just seems wrong. But hey that one sword can parry bullets so what do I know. lol
It is well within the rules - Naedre has the relevant quote - Chosen reroll two and seven results, not two and seven rolls.
I've been doing it since the book came out, 6 and 8 can be the most lackluster results on that table. If I get a 3 I'm keeping it, however.
Trust in your core choices - love them, hate them, wish them dead to clear charges, but remember that come end they will pull off a miracle for you.
Assuming that Raverrn and I are interpreting the rules correctly, this 1 item greatly increases the potency of Chosen
I did a little excel math and if you re-roll every chance you get to maximize your chances of getting Divine Greatness, your odds for my preferred gifts are as follows.
Divine Greatness: 17% (Obtained by rolling 11[+1] or 12)
Terror: 17% (Obtained by rolling a 10[+1])
MR(3): 23% (Obtained by rolling a 9[-1]) Same % if you wanted Fear or +1LD instead.
+1S: 23% (Obtained by rolling a 5[-1]) Same % if you wanted +1A or Armor instead.
+1T: 17% (Obtained by rolling a 4[-1])
97% total(missing a few % by only calculating up to 3 re-rolls)
If you'd prefer +1T over rerolling:
Divine Greatness: 15% (Obtained by rolling 11[+1] or 12)
Terror: 15% (Obtained by rolling a 10[+1])
MR(3): 20% (Obtained by rolling a 9[-1]) Same % if you wanted Fear or +1LD instead.
+1S: 20% (Obtained by rolling a 5[-1]) Same % if you wanted +1A or Armor instead.
+1T: 25% (Obtained by rolling a 4[-1] or 3)
95% total(missing a few % by only calculating up to 3 re-rolls)
Wow this is really great. Favor on chosen just got that much better.
This should push you onto using Favor on that one list I commented on the other day
hmmmm.... 17% chance of 4+ ward? Might be worth sticking mark of tzeentch on them for 3+ ward if you get a little lucky.

Yup. The random side of the roll makes Chosen a so-so choice over Warriors (with only a +1WS to justify a +3 pts/model).
Factor in Favor of the Gods, and you have at least 2 choices. The chances of having 3 choices is roughly 50% (by rolling 4-5-9-10-11, and, should you roll 12, you're keeping it anyway).
With that, Chosen become much more attractive, with the ability to "fit" more into your army mold.
Where I used to field Warriors, I now field Chosen. Marauders Horsemen and Marauders fill those core choices anyway.
Of course we have to invest in 25 pts champion, but hey, it's still 1 more attack.
"How do you stop a Chaos Knight from charging? No seriously, HELP!" André le Bouffon, jester of the Bretonnian court - last words.
How many unit champs can say this:
3 base attacks
+1 from AHW
+1 from khorne
+1 from eye of the gods
That's 6 attacks from a infantry unit champion. Who in their right mind wants to charge a unit that has a 6 frontage spewing out 31 ws6 str 4 attacks and a 4+ armor save.
