Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok I dont know if this is a good tactic but it is one that I have never seen and want your opinions on. If its a bad idea dont crush me Im just trying to think outside the box.
For a magic heavy list or even just a decent magic list what about using the first lore of shadows spell to make a foot slogger unit fly. People like fast moving lists and go for knights/DO's a lot but numbers are smaller.
What about taking a Lvl 4 with lore of shadows and a Lvl 2 with BoS and take the first spell. Foot slogger armies have more models than cav armies so you can get good speed along with more numbers and good magic still.
Things I can see going wrong:
1) Getting these flight spells dispelled and there goes the tactic altogether.
2) Lore of shadows isnt strong enough offesively to make it worth giving a lord this lore. MoT could just flat out be better for damage.
3) The cost of magic could lower numbers and make footslogger army not too much bigger than a cav list, creating an army not much bigger and less reliable speed.
It could be possible to maybe just take the Lvl 2 with BoS and have a unit of warriors/chosen be included in a cav list for a bigger number fast moving unit.
What yall think about this type of strat? Amazing idea? Viable? Unreliable? or just crap?
It doesnt apply to a whole unit, i think you can only put it on one model, who may or may not have to be a character. So you could get one dude to fly out of the unit, but what is that one warrior / marauder going to do?
if you first cast that one on a marauder, turning him into a exalted. Fly that exalted in the front of a unit with his caster in it and whack said caster into a bloody pulp. Let the exalted fizzle away before he can fight back.
Some weird twisted way of midget tossing, except here the midgets turn into colossal killing machines in mid air.
Seriously, I think we might have stumbled on our own version of missile fire here...
I just checked it.... I can hardly keep it together... but IT IS POSSIBLE!!! it checks out. We can shoot exalted heroes!! I REPEAT WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO SHOOT EXALTED HEROES!!!
A Tzeentch DP just got a new purpose...
I'm freaking out..
Well my initial idea is crap since I didnt look at the rules close enough to see its only an individual model that can get flight, but sounds like we got something going with this exalted cannon.
I think the exalted cannon is a cool idea... but how would you get around the fact hes worth 100 VP if killed? If you charged him into a unit, and killed the Sorcerer or w/e, then the rest of the unit would kill him and gain 100 VP. If you charged a solo, and killed it, they would get to shoot at your exalted / charge him and kill him before you can cancel the RiP spell, thus giving them 100 VP.
It says in the book, 100 vp when killed.
But since we can end it whenever we want, those 100vp are never ever collected.
I assume we would fizzle him before the enemy attacks him back.
edit: The faq states we can even end him after armour saves but before he dies, but that that would make us douchebags.
In other wording.
REALLY.... so we can end the exalted JUST BEFORE he dies, but not until then? So --- they hit, they wound, i go hmmmm..... roll my armour save and fail it, and then declare the spell is no longer activated, so they dont get 100VPs....
Wow. Thats sooooooo abusive!!
Ending the spell just right before being killed is like a coward's way out to get out of trouble
But what the heck. At least them Marauders now have another purpose other than dying!
Currently building my poor-hammer WoC army.
it's a remains in play spell, we can end it whenever we want.
But I would do it before the enemy can fight back, not right before he dies. This isn't magic the Gathering.
