I know GW doesn't have a model out for her yet, but my regular WoC opponent uses her and she is pretty nasty. Just wondering what the consensus is for a base size to use. He thinks 25mm I was thinking more 40mm. The main things I am concerned about is 360 degree los for man sized models as far as charge purposes and wether there is a shooting penatly for her being man-sized or not.
To my knowldege there are no other characters that can fly and are on a small base (skink chief with cloak of feathers was all i came up with) and can pack that much punch from a charge.
What is everyone else using for her?
hmmm i'm not sure myself, but i cannot believe it would ever be 25mm...
if you think about it, she would either have a 40mm or a 50mm
40mm: big model but still unmounted so same base size as a spawn or something
50mm: the same size as a model on a disk of T ( also flying unit this way) but since that's a mounted model and our shieldmaiden of khorne is not i would probably put my money on a 40mm base.
hope this helps =)
It's really a guessing situation. If the rules are followed, it will still be 25 mm. Like sigvald, like wulfrik and all other on-foot characters. But it's true that some models in the Chaos range have baffled the rules (some steeds, Archaon). But no man-sized examples exist. I know Valkia reminds us of a demon prince, but she was a Chaos Warrior (or chosen or something).
"How do you stop a Chaos Knight from charging? No seriously, HELP!" André le Bouffon, jester of the Bretonnian court - last words.
I'd say she should be a 25mm base. After all, she has the same unit strength, wounds and toughness as a regular Chaos Lord, just with a few shiny new abilities. Instead of thinking of her as halfway to Demon Princesshood, and so more monster than mortal, think of her has just a Chaos Lord (sorry, Lady) with some shiny magic items.
Unnecessarily merciless since 1998
I think the main difference between Valkia and those other heroes and lords mentioned is that she has the "flying" special rule from the get go, not given to her by an item or upgrade power as with all the others.
It seems that generally GW has made fliers with pretty large bases, but its often hard to tell if thats for the aesthetics of the model and how it looks, or that due to the power of flying it should be that size for targeting / models in contact etc...
A rough call either way, and sadly I've seen nothing to suggest they are making a figure for her yet....this would have been a worthwhile addition to the FAQ
~It comes down to her unit strength. She still only has US 1, so I believe that she is on a 25mm base. If she was on a 40 or especially 50mm base, the US would go up, but it doesn't so she remains small... if you can call that scary hell-fiend small...
If so that is a huge bonus for taking her. Less models can attack, and all those weapons that do extra damage/attacks to models with US of 2 or more don't work either. Other than the fact that she can't join units, there doesn't seem to be any other reason not to take her.....very few drawbacks and very large upside.
Being a HE player I do have something that starts with "Vauls" and ends with "Unmaking" for her, not many other ways of taking her out without the risk of serious damage to your heros/generals/mages
