I'm kind of curious about including a warshrine in my upcoming army, but I'm kind of clueless where to begin as far as putting together a model. Would you guys be able to lead me to some pictures of chaos warshrines, or conversion ideas?
My friend has two, one is a conzerted stegadon and the other is a converted corpse cart.
Daemonic cheese-how? Well, you would need to start with daemonic milk, i guess...
This summer Im going to be converting a shrine. Going to put a crucified bloodthirster on a chariot. I gotta decide which chariot to use. Debating between chaos or corpse cart.
I built mine from a Corpse Cart. I took the "rib cage" of it and turned them outwards like wings. It also covers the 'deck' so that you don't feel obligated to stand someone on it. I used two of the yokes (one left over from my converted VC cart) and put a chaos steed from the Marauder box between them. I then took the back supports of the bell, and the front 'skid plate' of the cart, and made a small box area under the bell. I put a bunch of skulls in there with some GS, and trimmed down the burning skulls from the pot of Warpstone Fire to make it look like they were tossing skulls into a fire. I then used more GS to model flayed skin between the ribs, like people had been cut up and tied to the wooden poles. There's a dragon's skull hanging down in the back, as a theme to the cart. I then hung all manner of grisly bits from the 'wings', almost like some vile rolling butcher-shop. Two halberd wielding warriors walk beside it on the base. Very chaotic I feel, and there are elements incorporated that would make any more make sense
Slaanesh- flayed skin
Tzeentch- bells and chimes hanging around, and the dragon skull
Nurgle- meat cleavers, butcher knives, surgeons saws hanging everywhere
Khorne- burning pile of skulls
I kitbashed a stegadon and giant to create an "enslaved" Shaggoth. Looks pretty good, IMO, and is also a very versatile figure. It can be used for a larger-based Shaggoth, larger-based giant, or the warshrine it was meant to be. A bit pricey, but endless opportunities for conversion.
Got the brettonian relique and did some remodeling to the skeleton on top to make him more chaosy.
I think it depends on the mark you intend to give the shrine. However the choices listed of corpse carts and Bret.. reliques are very nice as well.
You could try combining a chariot and a cauldron of blood or something like that, or maybe using a chariot and putting some sort of obelisk with loads of chaos markings.
Also you could use the basing of harry the hammer and mount it on a hors driven chariot (make sure to make the horse look as if it is marching and not dashing or charging due to the limited movement of the shrine) and again add an obelisk.
If you want to see some images try visiting coolminiornot.com and search for warshrines over there.
Hope it helps

You could also use the Carnival of Chaos Plauge cart from mornheim.
A rectangle of plywood, leftover shields, a pingpong ball, two marauders, a sorcerer, legs of two boars, one spear arm from the marauder horsemen (making a pole by which my walking shrine gets directed by its handlers) and a random mini from chronopia (some other game system but still fitting the bill)
might not be too great but it serves the purpose
It ain't easy bein' green... :-)
