Hey guys my question has to do with Scyla and how he is accepted by other players and tournies. I know that special characters are many times banned from tournaments and a lot of players dont allow special characters, but does Scyla fit into this.
Now I do know he is a special character and he is in that section, but is he included in being banned in these situations. Technically I would say yes but when I think about it pratically I dont know. I mean he is not a lord or even a hero. He is just a rare choice and he is just a slightly beefed up spawn. I personally dont see him as being an overpowering or unfair character like other special characters out there like Kholek or Teclis so I dont see a valid reason in banning him.
What yall think?
Well it would have to be up to either the person you're playing or the tournament master.
But as you put it he's just a slightly beefed up rare choice, that instead of taking two spawn you only get him. I have no problem with him, and on that point I don't have a problem with hero level special characters, since they aren't really broken like the lord characters can be.
I serve my master and do as he wants. He wants the badlands, thus they will be his.

There is no such thing as special characters any more really, they are named characters, and whilst ungentlemanly, are perfectly legal. I agree that some of teh Lords (Teclis, Malekith, Manfred) should be limited to "friendly" games with particular scenarios, but the vast majority, Scylla Angfingrimm included, should be selectable without any recourse to cries of cheese or tantrums.

Ya I am not a WAAC player. I mainly want to model and have some fun fair games on the weekends. I was just worried because I wanted either 2 spawns or scyla to to protect my flank and I like scyla better for reliability with higher movement and he fits my fluff better than two spawns.
I am just hoping I dont get the stink eye on the table because I really dont want to be a guy who gets that. I know I would not be very friendly with someone fielding Teclis ect against me. I just dont think scyla is strong enough to be causing any hate. Thats what Im hoping at least.
technically he is just a spawn with a name and if some one gave you hate for using him there just nit picking
Please don't cut me at the knees short scary giner person with a beard.
I don't see any problem bringing him along. Just make sure the list is fluffy and doesn't contain another special character (2 special chars in a 2k army feels a little wrong).
I must ask you this: Are you planing to use the usual spawn model (plastic)? I once bought the original model (a long long time ago and I have sold it since) and I think that guy was on a smaller base (more like the chaos warrior size one)!
Well my intension is to not really even model him as a spawn. I am going to hunt around ebay and find the old "Skrag the Slaughterer" model. He is an ogre that Ill make fit the base size. Instead of using scyla's fluff I am going to manipulate the fluff and use scylas stats and costs to represent my ogre character.
Another thing that crossed my mind about that "special character" tournament house rule: Scylla is not a character. A character is a rule term in WHFB. It designates Heroes and Lords (but not champions, etc).
So, in this regard, Scylla is effectively a simple rare choice called Scylla Anfingrimm just like other rare choices are called pump-wagon or Great Eagle.
"How do you stop a Chaos Knight from charging? No seriously, HELP!" André le Bouffon, jester of the Bretonnian court - last words.
Personally, i would prefer two chaos spawns rather than Scyla tbh.
But i would let anyone use him against me in a game.
Adds to the fun, and he isn't THAT powerful.
