I have been thinking of doing a magic army and this idea popped up in my head:
Why don't i insert a unit of chosen with champion and give him the book of secrets to get a 5th sorceror.
He can add a power die and maybe cast a fireball.
A unit of 5 chosen with halberd, shield, champion and book would cost 145 pts. It sounds quite reasonable.
I do not know if it is a sane idea, i would really like to know your opinions about it! Is it a good idea?

That item is the one i like to give to my chosen champion...
when I don't give him Favor of the Gods. FotG is just too good to pass up on Chosen units.
If you have 2 chosen units, go nuts!
And, while you're at it, mark the chosen with MoT, your champion will benefit from a +1 to his casting rolls!
Also, for a champion with the BoS, always (in my humble opinion) take the lore of fire. If you're lucky, you'll get the Sword of Rhuin, which will make your champion a monster!
"How do you stop a Chaos Knight from charging? No seriously, HELP!" André le Bouffon, jester of the Bretonnian court - last words.
Thanks for the reply Cooran!
Your tip on Tzeentch is great, that was going to be my next question
Ive been considering this for a long time my only problem with it is i roll bad on the EoTG table far too often for me to leave Favour out, however i may have to fit a warshrine in to take this set up, except with 18 chossen . I may even include the Banner of Wrath in the Unit.
haha chaos gunline
lvl4, 3 lv2's, rod of torment and the bound item standard, a chsoen champ with book of secrets, max magic items on the wizards... then insert 2 hellcannons.
Just hope they dont misfire and kill all your wizards!!!
Just as an alternative, i find that the lore of death is great as well, especially against armies like highelves who have immunity to fire damage. so just change between fire and death depending on the opponent.
also this BoS on the chosen could be used very effectivly with call to glory!
I usually don't take chosen but I know how effeective the Book of Secrets can be on a chosen champion. You are essentially getting a sorcerer who can fight a lot better than your average sorcerer anyway.
The best lore to actually give the chosen champion is indeed fire but I have seen it done with the lore of shadows to surprising effect.
I am happy to see all these positive comments!
thanks guys for your input!
You are most welcome.
I'd probably take a few more than 5. They move really slow compared to most cavalry and if charged, they may have a hard time standing up to the charge. With 4 other sorcerors, I would assume the body count of the army is fairly low.
