As a newcomer to WFB, I am trying to get my List building head together. Because I am not aware of most enemy army’s capabilities, I need some advice please. So …
1). Apart from Daemons, which other enemy armies have good immunity or resistance to Terror and Fear.
2). When making a tournament level list, is building a 1,500-2,000 points list with two Terror causing models worth it.
It would be helpful if, in the answer to this question, you could mention why.
Please don’t post just saying “It depends….” As that won’t help me, or others reading this post. Please say “it depends on ……”
3). I rather like the model of my Dragon Orge Shaggoth. What do you guys feel about fielding a Shaggoth instead of a DP, and in a Terror heavy list, DP and DOSh.
Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts, and Ogres also all cause fear so are more immune as well as WoC units marked with Slaanesh. As for the other armies I believe they all(most) at least have one or two Fear/Terror units.1). Apart from Daemons, which other enemy armies have good immunity or resistance to Terror and Fear.Generally the fewer the point cost of the army the more effective Terror will be as there is less of a chance that the opponent is using things that are resistant to it. It can be greatly effective against low leadership armies like O&G or Beasts but will generally just be wasted points against undead and deamons. Lizards are also fairly resistant as they are rolling three dice. The current tourney environment is heavily loaded with VC, Lizards, and Daemons so I think that right now a Terror list will not be as effective as in other environments.2). When making a tournament level list, is building a 1,500-2,000 points list with two Terror causing models worth it.It depends on how you want to set up your list. If it is under 2000 pts you can't take a DP anyway. At 2000 it would depend on what you want for your other Rare slots and Lord slot. This one really does depend on the rest of your list. Either one or both can be used and be effective.3). I rather like the model of my Dragon Orge Shaggoth. As in your other thread, I'm afraid I can only answer the first question of yours:
Vampire Counts and Tomb Kings both have "Undead" as an army wide rule. This means all the models in their armies cause Fear and many of them Terror, so I would strongly reccomend not to build your strategy on Terror Causers.
In addition, Dwarfs, Lizrdmen, High Elves, Wood Elves and Dark Elves generally have high Leadership or rules to deny Fear or Terror to be very effective, so I wouldn't base my strategy on Terror against any of them either.
EDIT: ARGH! NINJAED! I'LL HAVE YOU NEXT TIME, I SWEAR!
5000p. High Elves
If you liek the Shaggoth Model, try this on for size:
Kholek, BSB on a disc w Banner of the gods + 2 Shaggoths I don't know if you can have more than 4 Terror causers in 2K. Thats still a lot, and as the other's have said, Terror isn't really all that effective, as some armies willd eny it completely, and those are the most popular tourney armys (DC,VC,LM).
The Monster mash list we can run with a bunch or Trolls, Dragon Ogres and 3 shaggoths (Kholek+2) looks like it could be fun, cept for the lack of magic...
A demon prince is a better terror causer than a Shaggot because he does it from behind your enemy lines (he can fly).
Shaggots die easily. They are worth too much points. I prefer Hellcannons.
As for the Kholek and 2 Shaggots idea there is no need of a BSB since it would be just a waste of points. If you go for kholek and 2 shaggots go for 3 units of 10 marauders to fill your core choices and 3 units of 3 dragon ogres with great weapons. That way all the enemies shooting will have too much targes hoefully giving more survivability to ur larger monsters. And if they die there will still be the Dragon ogres at str 7.
I would not say my High ELves have good resistance to Fear/Terror. I can take some banners that help, but not for many units and high leadership doesn't help you when you are failing on anything other than snake eyes.
Fear and Terror causing units that outnumber my small expensive elite HE units are the thing that gets me the most.
Armies: Ultramarines 2nd Co.
(coming soon) Wood Elves for my final army.
Thanks to all for the replies.
