At 5 extra points for +2 strength only on the turn you charge, I think it's a waste of points. Isn't it better to have the +1 strength throughout the engagement?
I took them cus they look cool, and with +2 str on the charge what makes you think the engagement would last into the second round?
You could be facing Daemons, VC, Black Guard with ASF banner or Temple Guard with a Slann. They'll all stick around for round 2. But I think lances do have their use: if you put them on a unit of Khorne Knights, they could be used to take out big stuff like Giants and Stegadons in the first round of combat, whereas Knights with Ensorcelled weapons will be able to keep going against the aformentioned armies/units in subsequent rounds.
Well, str 7 will knock down just about anything. Bust chariots, actually wound a steam tank, rip through high armored targets like Saurus or Iron Breakers.[Further proof of why I will lose once I start using my WoC army]
But then, you're right, str 5 all the time is pretty great. And magical attacks come in handy against forest spirits and ethereal units (don't lances lose the ensorcelled bit?).
I'm running mine without lances, though I might make a second unit with them.
Knights with Lances are S6 on the charge. They're S4 on their profile and Ensorcelled Weapons give them +1 S, but the lances replace them. So no chariot busting, not like Blood Knights!
Ya they are scary guys ....I completely forgot about the "counting as magical weapons" thing, another bonus.
Blood Knights are cursed with 1) A cost of 55 points each and 2) Frenzy. I think we get a better deal out of Chaos Knights for their cost than Blood Knights. You can pretty much take 2 units of 5 Chaos Knights naked for the cost of 1 unit of Blood Knights with enough protection to make it to the other end of the board.
still, looking better is a good enough reason
