While at work today, I was thinking of a couple ideas to make the already powerful Lord on Dragon a sure thing in combat. Has anybody ever tried running him along side a Sorc. of Slaanesh equiped with a Chaos Runeshield on a Steed of Slaanesh? I was thinking more along the lines of challenging the monsterous lords (other dragon lords, Carnasaurs etc.). This way the fast calverly (sp?)of the steed can keep up with the dragon, get the flank and then negate any pesky weapon affects like D3 wounds or Ignores Armour. That and being a sorc, he can just take pot shots at units with his MM and be a good deal cheaper then a hero on a Steed of Slaanesh.
It could be fun to try it, but, to me, it doesn't seem really efficient. I mean your Slaanesh dude costs you over 150 pts just to negate the effect of any magic weapon if he can get in the same combat your dragon/lord is. Why just not equip the lord itself with the shield and be sure of negating those weapon?
The shield and the axe of khorne maybe? Or the shield, golden eye of tzeentch and a simple 25 pts magic weapon of your own?

Glaive of putrefaction could be a good choice for those 25 points. If you hit the enemy he is as good as dead.
You're not in base contact with yourself, so you wouldn't negate your own weapon.

Surely the chaos runesheild would just make their weapons non-magical, then just have the mark of nurgle, or khorne, and with either the chaos runesword or the axe of khorne?
What i would do...
Yeah thats kind of the same build i run my lord. Its really something out of left field that doesnt cost too many points, adds come extra DD to my pool, and your enemy doesnt expect it at all
Axe of Khorne
Favour of the Gods
Mark of Nurgle
With a Dragon you can really pick your targets. If the opponent is nasty and hits you first the MoN + the Runeshield will protect you. The Dragon causes terror so you wont have any problem with that. The Axe of Khorne is a good Character killer, and the extra S helps against anything he's up against. Send him at weak heros first so he'll start growning with the Favour. He can get really big.
