Welcome to Librarium Online!
My DoC friend was asking me about casting buboes at his nurgle hero riding a palequin and wondering if the wound would be randomized between his hero and the palequin. I believe that since its a mount that the wound hits his hero, I used the example "If it was a horse he was riding you can't hit the horse", but he thinks the palequin is different somehow. I know buboeing a skink priest on a EoG it gets randomized so where do you draw the line?
I am under the impression that the line is drawn when considering the difference between monsterous mounts and horses. the EoG is on a steggadon, a monster.
It may be more specific to a multi-wound mount than a monster, as horses and god specific mounts are all single wound. I don't know what the profile for a DoC Palenquin is.
Buboes is not a missile attack and doesn't get randomized. You can snipe whoever you want, no rules for target, you only need line of sight. Of course a 1 wound mount can never be a target since this is another rule related to any attacks (Palanquin have 1 wound).
Why would you randomize buboes on the engine? You pick a model, not the unit.
http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_...part2_Feb_2009Q. The Rule of Burning Iron from the Lore of Metal
states ‘the spell hits a single model (chosen by the
caster, no targeting restrictions apply except the
Wizard needs line of sight to the target)...’. Is a
character riding in a chariot (or upon a monster)
considered ‘one model’ for purposes of this spell,
thus requiring a roll to randomly determine
whether the chariot/monster or the character is hit
by the spell? Or may the casting Wizard directly
target any portion of the model that he wishes to?
In addition, can the spell be cast into a close
A. The spell hits the multiple-part model, and then
the hit must be randomised amongst the different
‘parts’. It can be targeted at a model engaged in
Would this also translate into randomizing buboes?

Good catch, it seems as if you would have to randomize buboes against any multiple wound mounts as it is considered one model... which makes little sense. The hero on the palaquin would take the wound if the mount only has 1 wound though. Since for some reason it doesnt appear to have any real rule for the magic, this is under the shooting at monsterous mount.
