Anyone think of using an exalted on a disk as a possible baiter? I am interested in running one. Not to purely bait. I think he can do a lot of different things, but baiting can deffinitely be one I think. With 3D6 he will not get ran down, and he causes fear so he may cause a unit to just chill there.
What yall think?
I like the idea, but it's too costly. Exalted + disc + MoT is, what, 140 pts? I know hounds don't fly, but they're 3d6 baiters for 30 pts.
"How do you stop a Chaos Knight from charging? No seriously, HELP!" André le Bouffon, jester of the Bretonnian court - last words.
This is true, but Im designing this guy to do a number of things.
-MoT and Disk
-Flai, ADH, Shield
He can bait/flee, kill gun crews (WoC is awful at doing this), give me easy flank and rear charges, and chartiot break.
Ya bait and flee can be useful though if those options dont really come up though. I Just played a full knight bret army so thats why the idea is in my head. Im playing him again tomorrow with my new list and I may try this out if deployment and everything makes it beneficial.
I think it would be much better served flying them right to the side or behind them and just simply march blocking. Too risky to bait and flee, 3d6 is still very possible to lose but more importantly it is way too easy to fail the LD rally on an 8.
I genrally run an exalted on disc with a flail, shield (2+ sv), and armour morrislieb (3+ wd vs non-magical attacks), plus as a BSB if I have the points. He has great survivability, especially against opponents that are not classed as magical. The movement is huge advantage to fulfill a whole range of situations, from war machine hunter, chariot buster (str 7), to providing combat support to where it is needed in the battle line. I think you are better off with with Armour Morrislieb though, rather than Golden Eye of Tz, as this guy will see some form of combat. Besides I think it is grand when included with a Tz sorceror lord on disc with the Golden eye, I just think it fits.
Ya I was just worried about magic as well. I guess I can keep out of LoS if I am careful. The ward probably helps more though since he will be in combat quite a bit. You ever use this guy to go hunt down casters. Assult a bunker if its not big and challenge?
I personally don't run him on a flier and prefer to run him with my knights, but if I were to have him on a disc I don't think I would assault a bunker alone ever just to challenge a character even if it is a sorcerer. Way too many times do I fluff attacks with this guy despite hitting on 3's only getting 1 or 2 across. Very risky to do this especially if he is the BSB that is a lot of VP.
there's otherways of dealing with magic. collar of Khorne on Tz gives him a 5+ ward and MR2. Enchanted shield gives him a 1+. I always like to have the demonic shooting attacks on my tz fliers too. It comes in way handy.
