I've got a guy that I play against who has DoC, and Skaven. Skaven, I couldn't give a rat's rear for, but what would happen if I played his DoC? What works well against them, and what doesn't? I don't want my first time playing them to be a brutal defeat.
It really does depend. Daemons of chaos are flexable and hellishly unpleasant when it comes to getting round them.
As a guide, forsake your great weapons. there are only a couple of armour saves in Daemons, and they cost alot of helpful points.
Challenge Slaanesh and tzeentch heralds. khorne heralds are nasty in challenges and nurgle heralds are annoying.
daemons can have alot of magic, even without girectly going magic heavy. All heralds except khorne can be wizards, and the basic spells are annoying... D6+1 strength D6+1 hits, everything in b2b get ws, s,t,i and attacks 1 and inflicting stupidity for the rest of the game. They are all annoying.
Go for trashing units 1 at a time with combat res. remember if daemons need a double 1 because they lost by 12 combat res, getting double 6 doesnt mean they loose 11 daemons. They are leadership 7, they rolled 12, and add 12 to it, so they loose 18 daemons.
If anyone believes on telekinesis, raise my hand!!
#6 slaanesh spell does wonders against demons.
Chaos knights work great too.
