does the armor of morslieb protect you from shooting or just close combat attacks? I guess, what is considered an "attack"?
If a terradon drops rocks on you - is that an attack? and therefore do you get the wardsave?
I've got a Demonprince and a Tz bsb on a disc in my army and I'm trying to figure out how to protect the bsb. I know he ought to be able to choose where and how he is used, but I'm a little concerned about when he gets into combat. He has a flail, which if he uses, will make his armor save less than reliable.
I'd like to use him to "clean-up" for me. Ie. He can hit small units and chase them off the board, or blow up chariots or hopefully attack stegadons after they've recieved a wound or 2 and then powerup from the EoTG table.
I had the golden eye of tzeentch on him which protects him well from any ranged attacks (2+/3+) but that leaves him with just a 3+/6+ in combat and I'm worried about my dice abilities.
Morrslieb works for both melee, and ranged attacks.
Though, you will have to decide wich you like better. A 3+ safe vs ANY kind of ranged attack, and less protection in combat, or 3+ safe vs both, but being vurnable to magical attacks/weapons. Also keep in mind your characters will have to challenge so you might be in combat with enemy characters who weild magical weapons alot of times.
Personaly, i think your better off with the Eye, and a shield. 2+ safe, chaos armour, mounted, shield.
Armour of Morslieb will not help you against character (except maybe DE Khaine gifts I think) or magic attacks, but it will be useful against any other opponent. With the Golden Eye you don't have any save in close combat but you gain protection against magic missile. Amour of Morslieb is best imho if you want to engage warmachines or any other small units not containing characters. Otherwise choose Golden Eye to save 10pts.
Thanks guys - I was thinking of Armor of morslieb and Talisman of Protection, so in case I do get into combat with a magical-weilding enemy, I can survive a few blows. It's no more expensive than the magic items I had on him, but I'll have to adjust my other characters' items.
I wish the Demon Prince could take 50pts of magic items, that would save me a lot of trouble.
you don't thinkupgrading his pure wardsave from 6+ to 5+ is worth the points? For some reason I can make 5+ wardsaves but not 6+ anything.
I'll have 1 scroll and 6 DD with Tendrils which is pretty good magic defense, but there could still be a magic missile that would slip by - not likely, but my luck.
How about collar of khorne, and enchanted shield.
1+ armour, 5+ ward, and magic resistance 2, wich will nutralize almost every spell aimed at him. Though misseles still are a problem..
Tz exalted BSB with shield, flail, and armour morslieb has got to be one of my favourite character set ups at the moment. This guy is fast, versatile, and very survivable when used correctly. He goes really nicely with the Tz sorceror lord who carries the enchanted shield and golden eye of Tz. Really makes for a nice Lord and BSB combination for leading the warriors.
