Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm starting a nurgle army, because who doesn't love pestilence and decay? I have a few questions though to help me get an army list together. I bought a battalion, a champion and sorcerer, and a unit of warriors and knights off ebay. I was curious whether giving all units full commands was worth it and if using magic banners was a waste of points? Also, should I combine my warriors and knights from ebay with the ones from the battalion? I just dont want to put all my eggs into one basket and the unit of knights together came out to be over 500 points if my math was right. Just hoping someone with some play experience could help, and any other advice is more than welcome. Thanks a ton!
I find 12-15 warriors suffcient, if they are geared right.
I never use more than 6 knights ina group.
Standards and Musicians are almost always worth it. Champions are situational, you will have to learn that one the hard way.
Magic Banners are again situational. Blasted standard on knights of tzeech makes them really nasty. but then again, so does simply having the mark of nurgal. I love the Banner of Rage for my warriors, Its a must have for me. However, I also understand the fallbacks of frenzy as it is quite easy to get led astray.
Grind it out!
Since I play a mostly cavalry army I can only speak about the knights. But I run them in groups of five, with a banner and a musician. The champion upgrade costs too much pointwise for just one extra attack, while a musician saved my combatres a few times.
In my opinion banners are a must for knights. I play my Tzeentch knights with the Blasted Standard (2+ save and a 4+ ward save against shooting is very nice against the shooty types). And i'm gearing up a unit of five with the mark of Nurgle and the Banner of Rage (frenzied knights with opponents hitting you at -1 WS sounds very good).
Frenzy is a potential drawback, but after a few games you'll quickly learn to cope with it. In my 1000pts army I have two other frenzied units (two groups of Khornite marauder horsemen, with flails, light armour and full command) and they do just fine. At the moment.
