Welcome to Librarium Online!
Normally I play with 2 chariots of slaanesh. I love them.
I run them with 2 units of korne knights as my shockers.
But I was spectating a small tourney last sunday. There I saw A LOT of cheesy ass lists. Like 2 steamtanks + some cannons/ 4 stagadons backing up a deathstar temple guard unit with a slann mage in it e.t.
So I started to think .... my chariots aren't going to do much against these foes. But an unit of 3 dragon ogres can. And this leaves me an extra 30 points to spent on something else (like making on unit knights nurgle with the banner of rage).
What do you think is better all-round?
thanks in advance.
I run a unit of dragon ogres; they move further and with great weapons will carve through anything. In my opinion, the main downside is they cannot be marked.
On paper dragon ogres look amazing. And I'm sure with those stats they perform well in games. However, I personally cant get over their appearence and unfluffy ness.
Dragon ogres are supposed to be monsterous creatures that dwell on the tops of moutains trying to get struck by lightning to get power or whatever sounds like highlander.
I dont think the models or the stats represent this. The Shaggoth certainly does but not the normal models. I dont and wont ever use them until they are remade to look better or more fitting of their description.
Edit. It is sad though that in tournaments its more about results than the armies themselves so yes they will be much more useful than a chariot.

First of all, thanks for the replies so far.
Because of it I made up my mind. I'm going to keep my old list with the chariots just because I like them.
Then for tourneys or when I have to fight against a foe who doesn't play for tactics and pleasure I build a second list. With 3 dragon ogres instead of my chariots.
Dragon orges are a bigger threat to foes then 2 chariots I guess.
Any other opinions are still very welcome. Or experience with dragon orges.
The pros and cons e.t.
giants are good at dealing with units that you can not normally deal with and will probly be better than dogres
Giants are a bit of a hit or miss for me. They can perform really well, especially with MoS, but they can also die very quickly against shooty armies like empire, who can kill your giant with one cannon shot (rare granted), but it's unlikely your giant will ever reach the lines, making it a bit risky, at least if you're building an all-comers list
That is why you build lists that work well together and use positioning to your advantage. We have one of the best and easiest magic missiles to take out any threats for situations such as that.
Provided your opponent isn't a chimp, he'll dispel magic missiles at his warmachines and he'll get at least one round of shooting at your giant, no matter how canny your movement is......ie, if you can see him to charge him, he can see you to shoot at before. Also a giant is a large target with less wounds than 3 dragon ogres and have no save against any wounds suffered. And finally, the dragon ogres are faster. So yes, I favour dragon ogres with GW's over giants. That being said, a giant is by no means useless and he will attract attention away from the rest of your army
