So I had a 500pt warband game, after crushing both a dark elf and high elf army I was going against the veteran in our group. A lizardman player, with a bloody stegadon. Needless to say I never really stood a chance since after taking a fire ball (book of secrets) and a flickering fire I only did a single wound. The stegadon also took a charge from marauder horsemen with flails who did no wound. After that all I really did was feed the darned thing with a block or marauders. So in a small scale game like this how do I wound the bloody thing? It has 6T, 4 attacks plus the 5 skinks, and it's a walking ballista that does impact hits on his charge. I pondered being a jerk and taking a Dragon Ogre Shagoth but being almost 300pt with the great weapon I would really be hurting on numbers. i also considered a exalted hero with a great weapon or flail, but getting the charge on him with a block may be too difficult (since he likes march blocking me with skink scouts all the time). Any thoughts or comments will be greatly appreciated.
Armor of Damnation+GW or Helm of Many eyes+mark of Khorn+GW on foot. That thing will be dead.
This build killed two stegadons for me. And! Because the stagadon is a Large Target, you'll get a Eye of the Gods roll. Don't forget that one.
Nurgle Chaos Knights. They get the job done. Volume attacks will wound him and being nurgle means it needs 5s to hit you and if he does wound, you still have a very good armor save.

My four strong unit of dragon ogres took a full armies worth of dark elf shooting to kill. This comprised of four units of shades and two of dark riders, in addition to a character with lifetaker. And they barely got them all. Anything less than 2250 points of dark elves with bows, I wouldn't worry. I ran them with two hand weps that game (still wounding on 2's against squishy elves) however the strength 7 attacks will benefit you more in this case.
Anyone ever tried dragon ogres? Are they as much of an arrow magnet as they seem to be?No fair. My three-strong unit lost two models from a big unit of Empire skirmishing archers in one shooting phase.. and thus losing both half-strength points and tablequart points. It's all about luck with the dice I guess.Originally Posted by phfhrockq
I think an exalted hero with the glaive of putrefaction would work well, you need 3s to hit a 5s to wound and after he fails a save you have now made it strength and toughness two...so from there just wail on it until it dies
I serve my master and do as he wants. He wants the badlands, thus they will be his.
